It isn't 2007 Amare is far from the player he once was especially with all his injuries this year, he's right him and Bass in a series right now is about a wash.

No, even Amare coming back from an injury this season was far better than Bass.

Per-36:

Bass --> 11.1 pts 6.8 reb 1.0 blks on 48% shooting PER 12.1
Amare --> 21.8 pts 7.7 reb 1.1 blks on 57.7% shooting PER 22.1

Maybe in terms of 1 on 1 defense some advanced stats might tell you Bass was / is better this year, but that's about as far as that goes.  Otherwise, Amare was superior in every category this season.

So how many points+rebounds has he averaged over New York's past 16 games? Oh wait...

Yeah, so your rebuttal is that Bass and Amare are even because Amare has a knee injury and so can't play.

Very compelling.
put it this way I'm not scared of Amare taking advantage of or abusing Bass. Period.

Just noticed that Martin is out with a severe sprained ankle and Chandler is out with a neck issue.  Thomas, Camby, and Stoudamire are out for them.  Good news for us.

I think Jeff punishing the Knicks on offense and matching up with Melo on D is the key to the series.

I think you got to let KG and Melo go at it.

Geez, it looks like they are currently without any bigs.  I really hope that Chandler and Martin will be healthy for the playoffs.

Hopefully, they take time to get back into the system.

The scary part atm is the three-point bombing.

If he doesn't play in the series against us, we shouldn't care about his production.

Sure, but the whole discussion in the first place started with "we don't need to worry about Amare because he and Bass are basically equally productive."

That's just not true in any sense.

Can we beat that team?  Melo has been outrageous lately... last 15 games he's averaging 37 points, 10 rebounds ... and shooting incredibly high percentages.

Lol... remember when some Knicks fans wanted to dump him and build the team around Jeremy Lin??

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Granted 90% of Knicks fans and everybody following the NBA in general did not see Melo posting an MVP-caliber season right after he finished with 22.6 ppg along with a very sub-par 43% FG shooting.
