Can we get him, Danny?

He helped Spurs BIG TIME last post-season...I think he'd help us, too.

Can't play in the playoffs. Waived too late in the season. Not eligible.

I would love to have him next year as a third string SF on a minimum contract if he was willing to sign up for the role. Useful player.

My friends and I have been referring to him as "Disgruntled" for years instead of Stephen Jackson.  Well, he was cut by the Spurs because he was disgruntled with his role.  If we sign him as a 3rd stringer, he will live up to his nickname once again.  No thanks.

I like S.Jackson the best because he is the most effective defensive player against big wings (power threes), combo forwards and stretch forwards. I think that defensive skill-set is the most valuable asset to have behind Pierce and J.Green. Plus, Jacks has that three point shot too.

Pietrus would be my second choice. A little smaller. More suited to defending SG/SF than SF/PF. That is why I would take Jacks ahead of Pietrus but I would be very happy with either one of them. Both excellent options as a third string player.

I like McGrady but he is not quite right for what I am looking for in that third string SF slot. More of a defensively capable player. Someone who can come and maintain the team's defensive integrity against small ball lineups when Pierce or Green need a breather.

So, McGrady would be my last choice of that group because he is an inadequate defender and, like I said above, that defensive skill-set is what I am looking for most behind Pierce and J.Green. I would probably take a couple of younger forwards ahead of McGrady. Players like Damion James or Donte Greene.

why in the world would you release him now?

they could be playing kobe or harden in the first round, and the looming threat of playing durant down the road.

why not have an extra tough minded defender (especially with ginobli so-so in terms of health) entering the playoffs.

they may regret this
