I fear too many people are heaping a ton of expectations on Avery like he's going to turn our season around. Remember people he just came off DOUBLE shoulder surgery it's going to take him a long time to get right

He IS going to turn the season around or at least start the process. And as far as the shoulders go, he was good with bad shoulders, he is going to be otherworldly with good ones.

How's that for reasonable expectations :P
We need shot blocking, interior defense, and rebounding. Sadly, double shoulder surgery or not Bradley doesn't address any of these.

He will help us for sure, but I don't think he's going to be the cure all some fans describe him as.

yea, from some of the posts about Bradley on here, you would think the surgery added 6 inches to his height or something

Sadly this team needs discipline and inspiration. It needs focus and consistent effort. Avery can help with all that. His ball pressure will change almost everything for us on D. His athleticism and feel for the offense will open things up.

I think his value to our team defense is very underrated. Even on this board. That being said I don't think it all turns around immediately but come February and march we will see the real celtics with Avery's return.

Agreed.  I expect the C's to continue to struggle for a while after AB comes back.  He will not cure us of all of our defensive struggles, but he ain't no band-aid either.  His disruptive defensive presence, both on- and off-ball, is undeniable.

There is a ton of room for defensive improvements, and I expect the C's to make them as the season progresses, similar to last year.  AB will be part of a defensive renewal that brings us back to a top-5/top-7 defense by the end of the season.

I fear this as well, plus, he isnt really that good.

Defensively he is a hawk on the ball. Thats really where his strengths end. Plus coming off of double shoulder surgery, I wonder how long it will take AB supporters to throw him under the bus. I really hope he proves me wrong.

He will reduce penetration, which is going to make the interior d much better.

We will still need rebounding and we could sure use another good big...if Doc will play him

I can't think of many good bigs we've had that Doc wouldn't play.

You're right, that was a silly thing for me to say.
