Offer BAE to Pietrus.

Resign Keyon Dooling to within 120% of his salary from last year.

Trade Sean Williams to Portland for Dan Gadzuric.

Why would Portland do this?  They've already waived him so they don't even have him...

not really following why we'd only be carrying 14 players and the "3 min wage" comment.

Also, Joseph is our pick and as far as I know, we don't need to dip into a BAE or vet min for him.

I'm assuming we've got 13 spots lined up:
Rondo, Bradley, PP, Bass, KG
Green, JET, Wilcox, Sully, Melo, JJJ, Moore, Joseph.

now with 2 spots open:
Plan A: BAE to Steimsma, vet min to Pietrus
Plan B: BAE to Pietrus, vet min to Semih
Plan C: BAE to Pietrus, vet min to Birdman  (or vice versa if needed)
Plan D: BAE to Darko, vet min to Peitrus (or vice versa if needed)

I said 14 because, I thought it was good practice to leave one roster spot open to make a midseason signing or the dreaded 10 day contracts when injuries start to take their toll. Joseph is a 2nd round pick which means he is not guarenteed a contract - I don't know has he signed a deal with the Celtics?

Darko is the one guy on that list that fills a need and of which there aren't multiple players available for that need.  So I would go after him.

Steimsma does as well.  If his feet are healthy I'd take him any day over Darko.  I loved Pietrus and he might be a steal if he got his knee treated by Kobe's doctor as I'd read he was thinking about doing but if we don't get a backup PG then we will need Moore and Christmas to help with ball handling and Pietrus is worse than Ray Ray was dribbling the ball.
We offered Stiemer as much as we can, which is likely not enough.  And I'm not really sure why you think Stiemer is better than Darko.  They are after all the same age and Darko is far more proven and has shown much more overall skill.  If you are talking about similar money, I'd rather have Darko.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

The main reason to prefer Steimsma over Darko would be willingness to accept not being featured offensively. Darko is one of those big men you have to feed possessions to keep engaged.

We need a big man who actually wants to score, on the inside.

Darko wants to score inside sure, but he's absolutely terrible at it.

There is no virtue in "going inside" to a guy who PPP is near the bottom of the league.
