Kidd coming off the bench is fine, but he won't be closing games.
Kidd should finish games for NY alongside Lin and Melo on the perimeter.

Tyson at center. Then either Amare, Novak or JR Smith / Shumpert (if they want to go smaller) as the final piece of the unit.

They could very well do this and completely swamp the perimeter ala Miami. Probably depends on the match ups defensively as well. They're going to be very poor defensively at PG, guys like Rose and Rondo should have a field day against Lin/Kidd- This means they may just try and outgun/outscore everyone rather than beat teams on D. Never worked before but it will sell tickets.

Lins penetration allows for much better pick and rolls with Amare. Lins a better scorer and combining this with his ability to get Amare involved means he's far more valuable.
Kidd coming off the bench is fine, but he won't be closing games.
Lins aggression going to the basket is going to open up Melo and the other 3 point bombers for plenty of late game action. Should be very fun to watch and I don't think Melo is going to dominate the ball as much as people think- I do understand why they'd expect his fat butt to do so though.
I don't think Lin's P&Rs will work all that well with Chandler and Amar'e both on the floor. Spacing will be awful tough.

Dallas were fine with Kidd running the pick and roll with Dirk and Chandler, so I think that Lin should be fine with Amare/Chandler. (as Nash was amazing with Frye/Amare in Phoenix).
Dirk and Frye are both stretch 4s as they are deadly shooters from 3 point range. In the Amar'e/Frye example Amar'e was playing center, that's a big difference.

Amar'e is a poor jump shooter from just 18 feet, let alone from three point range. Chandler similarly doesn't space the floor in anyway other than by cutting to the hoop.

I don't know if Amare is as poor a shooter as you're suggesting. I mean he hasn't shot as well since being injured obviously but he shot 44% classified as jumpshots in 2008-09 with Nash, in 2010-11 (when playing center as you suggested) he shot 39% from jump shot range. As a comparison in 08-09 Nowitzki shot 47% on the same shots. I do know that Amare's shooting was horrid last year and he wasn't above 35%.
He doesn't need to shoot for the pick and roll to be effective, if he's healthy and can effectively attack the basket off the pass back from the point guard, he forces a double from the strong side and Novak and the bombers will be very happy.
I don't know if Chandler being in the middle will really determine the outcome of the pick n roll effectiveness of Lin + Amare as much as Amare's injury/mobility status will.

Again, it's just my opinion, and we shall see.
