One big man that hasn't been talked about too much is someone who's already on our roster and that is Sean Williams. I think he may really surprise people this year. Many forget he was a beast with Jerz when he first came into the league. I think he's gone thru his rough spots and now can really be ready to contribute this year. I think he would be better than any big man that's available now. Read this quote from Tyronn Lue who's coaching the summer league team: I for one am rooting for him!

One player who continues to impress all concerned with his work and ability to keep his notoriously uneven focus in check is Sean Williams. At 25, Williams is the senior player on the Celtics [team stats] roster.

“I just had a talk with him a second ago,” said Lue. “We’re not looking for him to score. We just want you to do what you’re going to do on this team next year — rebound, block shots, run the floor. He understood. Just do what you do.

“(Williams’ approach) was good going back into (last spring),” he said. “He really worked, stayed in great shape. When the strength coaches told him to do conditioning, he was able to do it. Being around professionals like Paul (Pierce), Ray and Kevin (Garnett) helped him out a lot. He’s not complaining now. He’s accepted that he has to be here. I think he’s great. He even came in four days early last week.

“Last year wasn’t a distraction to him at all, and this has been great. You can come in thinking I’m the oldest guy, and I should be doing this or that, but he hasn’t had that approach at all. He’s a phenomenal shot blocker, great rebounder, he can run the floor and show on pick-and-rolls. He has a lot of talent. For sure, he belongs in this league.”

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I'd ship/trade JJJ to give him a spot.

No disrespect to JJJ.

C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark

He still has quite a bit of upside and personally I'd love for him to make the team.  Really too bad about JJJ as there are now several guys who are better overall including Sully and Williams.

Too all of you heaping praise on Williams... a guy who has had YEARS in this league to get it together. And giving up on jjj after one season are crazy. The kid didn't have summer league or practices all year long cuz doc preferred to rest the team so often. Jjj is going to be ridiculously better the Williams. You shall all see starting Monday when summer league starts up.

So, aside from KG and Bass, who probably start, what's our big man depth chart?

Sean Williams
Stiensma (maybe)
Ryan Hollins
Fab-Melo

Behind Pierce:

Sullinger
Jeff Green
JaJuan Johnson

Behind Rondo:

???

Behind Bradley:

Terry
E'Tuan Moore
Kyle Joseph

I wouldn't be so quick to give up on J3. Kid dominated Scully while they both were in college and don't forget, he was the defensive player of the year in his conference as a senior. Just because Dod didnt play him last year doesn't mean he's a dud...see Avery Bradley!

You have it all wrong. Sullinger and Johnson are 4's and neither will back up Pierce. Hollins isn't on the team. Kyle Joseph is a 3 with 2 possibilities. Terry can play both 1 and 2. Stiemer won't be with us.

+1....don't give up on JJJ...as you allude to above, Sullinger called JJJ the toughest player that he faced in college:

I think Williams could play the 5 spot, move KG back to the 4.

PG:Rondo,Moore
SG:Bradley,Terry,FA
SF:Pierce,Green,Joseph
PF:KG,Bass,Sully,JJJ
C:Williams,Melo,FA

This gets an other athlete to run with Rondo so PP and KG don't have to. Williams just needs to play hard and with in him self. Some people are saying how long hes been in the league he should have been there by now. But look at the teams he's started with. And some people just don't get it for a while. I know 35 year olds that are just now growing up. Not a  big concern with me.
