This is why we drafted Fab Melo, and why nobody should hold their breath on getting a top FA center.  Decent centers get overpaid more than any other position in the league, and they aren't essential to a championship in this day and age.

Unless Kaman wants to take a discount, look for us to cobble together a C rotation between Steimsma, Melo, and some lower-tier FA, with a little bit of KG thrown in.
I'm guessing a whole lot of KG thrown in.

Understatement of the year.

Man I don't know.  A max deal is a lot of money for a guy who averaged 13 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks.  But he's still only 25... maybe still developing.  Only averaged 29 minutes a game... maybe he has the capacity to be a 20 and 10 guy.  Maybe.  I don't know.  Risky.

Does Indiana match?

I would only mention that, in my unscientific with-no-evidence opinion, guys who are Hibbert-tall (over 7'1") tend to not have a long shelf life in the NBA.

I'd say our centers next year are Kg, steisma, melo. Outside of Camby or Kaman taking a low ball offer. Even then I think kg / Camby at center is a better use than starting both.

Hibbert for four years isn't a killer, and they should be his best four years. Of course being a center in Portland is now like being a drummer for spinal tap. So there is that...
