Daryl Morey has the Rockets as major players on Thursday, draft day.

After trading Budinger to the TWolves, the Rockets now own the 14, 16th and 18th picks. Along with Lowry, that's some serious leverage.

While the big prize is obviously DHoward, the Rockets have been rumored to be interested in Josh Smith, if the Howard thing goes awry.

The Rockets were also linked to Tyreke and the 5.

Morey has some great flexibility/options. He can trade picks and move up. He could trade Lowry for more picks, trade Lowry anda pick and move way up.

Anybody have ideas as to how this will impact the Cs? The permutations are kind of overwhelming to me.

sounds like he is loading up to get D12 (bad back and all)

Thats kinda a big gamble pig in a poke.....I'd want to see how well Howard has recovered.... what if he becomes another Amaire and can't jump and moves like a 50 year old man . Howard is a TERRIBLE shooter, his game requires he do amazing jumping, running and blocking moves.
He would be Perk like if he can't jump  ;D

Do they have room to add DWill? Howard/DWill would look good in Houston and give the Lakers another blocking team.

I don't think they have the assets to land Howard, unless someone is extremely high on Lowry (maybe IP is Rob Hennigan?).

My guess is that they fail to land Howard and then overpay for Josh Smith, which would take Smith out of our future plans and also probably allow the hawks to grab White before us with one of those picks.

Kevin Martin could be used as an asset with the 3 firsts, I think Orlando might bite on that. D-Will is obviously the end game with the Rockets anyone with half a brain can see that Houston is trying to pair DH12 and D-Will, I would also wager that they make a play for Gasol also for Lowry since the Lakers need a PG

So to recap

D-Will signs max deal with Houston
Orlando acquires Kevin Martin and 3 1st's and future considerations
Lakers receive Kyle Lowry for Pau Gasol (I think the Lakers are down enough on Gasol to move him for that package)

I think that's what the Houston power play is...do I think it will work? Depending on if Brooklyn is able to land another piece of the puzzle then maybe.

D-Will has already stated he's only willing to stay in Brooklyn or go (home) to Dallas.  Houston can cancel that.  Dwight Howard good luck, Josh Howard perhaps, D-Will NOPE

So Lakers only get Lowry for Gasol?
Big Mitch in the front office ain't letting that fly for one second. They could get a whole lot more for Gasol than Lowry.
Never happening. Remember the Lakers are looking at what teams would give up for Gasol, not what they could get on the bottom of the barrel for him. Lowry is bottom of the barrel for an All Star 7 footer.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
