Andrei Kirilenko would be my top FA target with the MLE.

Go all out in a run and gun offense with terrific quickness and length from Garnett (C) and Kirilenko (PF) to protect the paint defensively with Rondo and Bradley doing there on the perimeter. Pierce plugging the holes on each end.

Try to keep Bass, Stiemsma (backup C), Wilcox (third string C), Jeff Green (SF/PF), Pietrus (SG/SF) and Dooling (PG) to fill out the bench. Look to replace Marquis with a shooter/defender. Probably can't upgrade Dooling if MLE is spent on Kirilenko, oh well. Bring in Joey Dorsey as a rebounder/rebounder PF (third string PF, alternative to Bass) off the bench.

I wonder if that bench is better off without Ray. Lots more quickness and activity without him there. I think the team needs that. I hate to lose Ray's shooting and scoring. Anyway, probably miss out on one of Green/Pietrus so bring Ray back in that case.

C  - Garnett, Stiemsma, Wilcox
PF - Kirilenko, Bass, Dorsey, JJJ
SF - Pierce, Green, (shooter/defender)
SG - Bradley, Pietrus/Ray
PG - Rondo, Dooling

I think that is a pretty nasty team. I'd be very happy to see that next season.
Like most of it, Kirilenko would be a great pickup for us and definitely raise the defense at pf position from what bass gave us this year.  Bass would be back where he belongs, good sub.  He did an admirable job as a starter but he has holes in his game.  Our 2 draft picks could turn out to be very interesting.  Hey maybe we can sign and trade bass or ray (if its possible  ::) ) along with a pick and move up in draft.  Someone had posted in another thread that JJJ could take Bass' role as a sub with hitting the 10-15 jumpers from rondo but also blocking shots and rebounding.  If JJJ shows improvement and can give us quality minutes I'm for moving Bass.
PF-Kirilenko, JJJ, Green
that would free up for quality vet backup pg and a center/big
I think we can get wilcox back affordably, mp will be healthy next year and he adds some serious defensive toughness off the bench and size at sg
dooling ? only reason I'd consider keeping him is locker room presence and rondo seems to like him, as a 3rd string pg I'd be fine with him
pg-rondo, bradley, dooling

does moore fit in anywhere?

Decent roster. Although I'm not sold on Stiemsma. Ryan Hollins getting minutes over him has to hurt his value. And it's mainly because of suspect defense. One of the worst Pick and roll defenders in the NBA and a foul magnet. Celtics can upgrade position in the draft imo Festus Ezeli comes to mind.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Odom loves Kobe and LA I'd love to have him but you think he wants to play in Boston of all places? Lakers had Odom the OKC series might've gone differently he's the X-factor on any good team but I don't know....

Yes he does actually. His agent detailed that New York and Boston were his two favored destinations. He just wants to be on the East Coast somewhere.

We need a stretch four to open up the paint for Rondo, Avery and Green to get to the hole.
See how effective Bosh was in game 7 against us standing out on the wing? Lebron had free reign and if KG came over to help, he'd kick it out and Bosh drained those threes.

Huge factor in spacing when you wanna play small ball.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
