KG was much more championship driven, and a better overall player than Dwight.

Dwight wants to go some place where he is "the Man". KG wanted to join with other stars and win championships.

KG played unselfishly and did whatever it takes to win.

Dwight wants to play go-to scorer, regardless of how his bricks affect W's and L's.

The Magic had a great record, and a 3 or 4 seed, until Dwight started pushing for Van Gundy to be fired.

Rondo is a better playoff player than Howard.

As a matter of fact, DW arrived up to the finals on 2009. So, is not to deny everything what he made till now. Be realistic. We have great names such Karl Malone or Reggie Miller not winning a NBA title. Do not forget that he played with mediocre player such: Nelson and Turkooglu, and not with Koby, Lebron, Pierce or KG...

What exactly has Dwight Howard done in his  time in the NBA to warrant the "need" label?  Haven't we been more successful than Orlando over the past 5 seasons?

He's been the best center in the NBA and he did make it to the finals with a mediocre team.
"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

Dwight wasn't a chucker in '09.

If Dwight wanted to win a championship, and not just hog the limelight, he would have let the Magic trade him to L.A. at the deadline. He was so opposed to going to LA that he signed up for another awkward year in Orlando.

And...why again do we have to trade for this person who only made it to the Finals because the center who is better than him was sidelined with a knee injury?

Here's a tweet about an 18yo that could open some Howard-or-bust eyes:

Of the 125 players who defended at least 75 post-up plays this season, Andre Drummond allowed the fewest points per play. #NBADraft

As far as I can see, D. Howard has practically single-handedly dismantled a pretty good Orlando team from within with threats and demands and attempts to not only play, but also manage the team.  Unless the situation is a media hoax, he has driven players out of Orlando and insisted on picking up friends (BBD, for example) at inflated prices.

Besides all that, he is a dirty player who uses his elbows to hurt people.  (Do you really think he could get away with that in Boston?)

Howard's a loser who will never win anything as the main guy.
