My hope is that Danny will draft more astutely this year.

They could have used the Maine Red Claws and the Maine Red Claws certainly could have used them!

Its way too early to tell on either of these players!  However,
JJ looks like a role player at best!  And ET may be phoning home before long.

Certainly at this point they're not.  But Doc had written Stiemer out of his rotation until both JO and CW had gone down.  If CW were still playing, we'd be saying the same about Stiemer.

I think Moore could have been played enough to be about as serviceable as Dooling.  I don't really have a handle on whether there was the same potential for 3J, though I think he'd at most have been an offensive-minded Hollins at this point, had he played all year.

A few points:

1. It's been a unique season, with no practice to speak of, so Johnson and Moore haven't gotten a lot of time.

2. With that said, because Bradley has developed SOME - his ballhandling still is atrocious, but at least that's easily corrected - it does not logically follow that Johnson and Moore will with time, at all. To believe so presupposes that Ainge is never wrong about a draft pick, and his draft record clearly belies that.

3. Age most assuredly matters.

4. As the above poster accurately observes, Johnson hasn't shown me much of anything at this point. He looks as lost as any rookie we've run out there in recent memory. Moore has shown a little more.

We will likely have no choice but to give the two of them another year, since they've developed zero value in the league. With that said, I have NO interest in carrying four or five rookies next season. None.

One would hope that Ainge hits bigger on the two first rounders this year, but there's zero guarantee of that (the three Ainge liked last year in the 1st, and how that's worked out has been rather chilling), and Johnson and Moore get shipped out to the D league to learn how to be pros. Certainly, I would concur with the doubts raised in this thread and on other blogs about the wisdom of the Johnson pick.

If you think that rookies can come in and play from day 1, you're not appreciating the game. It takes time for them to adjust to the game at this level. No one can judge at this point how well Moore or Johnson fairly. Why not give them some time?

I'd like to send Johnson to the D-League next season with orders to work on his three-point range in hopes of turning him into a decent stretch four.  It's something he tried to develop for his senior year in college.

Moore can hit threes and I see his future potential as a three-and-D reserve guard.  The question is whether or not his defense can be good enough to be that sort of useful bench player.  He might be better off on a team that doesn't prioritize defense.

JJJ and moore will both be fine down the road. While neither are likely to develop into solid starters both have shown enough promise and skill where I would expect them to be bench contributors in the near future.

Interesting thing with JJJ. I have always thought that he compares very well to Hakim Warrick. They are extremely similar in size (though JJJ is an inch taller),athleticism, and college production (nearly identical stats). Warrick's rookie year he didnt produce much in terms of stats play in 68 games averaged 4pts 2 rbs a game. His second year he jumped up to averaging 12pts 5rbs.

   We know very little about these guys for now.  JaJuan is similar to Bradley in that his shooting is much better than he has demonstrated in his rookie year.  E'Twaun is a very confident player who doesn't turn the ball over much, and can score in multiple ways. 
   Doc has made it clear that this year was unfair to the rookies.  No summer league.  Extremely shortened training camp.  The organization couldn't even get in touch with them over the lockout to monitor their progress and development.  No practice means no time for Doc to see what to get from them.  No way you can trust rookies if you can't even see them in practice, not on a team that's trying to win a championship. 
   I for one like what I've seen from both of them.  Most importantly they are good kids who don't do bone-headed things and pay attention and learn.  They will be fine in the future.  Their future is not very stable however.  Danny has a lot of chips on his hands.  E'Twaun, Bradley, JaJuan, Two first rounders, Second Rounder and cap space. 
   With so many free agents on the Celtics Radar (KG, Ray, Green, Stiemsma, Bass, Pietrus) in addition to guys like (Hollins, Williams, Daniels, Pavlovic, Dooling)  Someone has to go.  I expect Danny to package a bunch of assets to bring in a big player.  Josh Smith/Horford, Tyreke Evans, David Lee, Millsap/Jefferson, Igoudala are all possibilities.
