Oh, wow.  I didn't realize he had those other issues going on, the media sweeped those under the rug amid the Laker "crisis"

Anyone who remembers me from the pre-KG days, knows that I am a huge Lamar Odom fan, and would love to see him in Celtics GREEN. Right now, clearly, we have a lot of guys at his position (Bass, Green when healthy (hopefully next year!) and, of course, KG).

He has a great skill set, and I have always thought his game would be a great complement to Paul Pierce's - two players with the ability to drive, move the ball, rebound a little, and hit the open look.

It just goes to show what a train-wreck our celebrity culture is, that a basketball player of his stature (someone with real skills) got sucked into that trash can family. Sad.

If we could sign him - I'd still be psyched.

Sometimes people show incredible resilience in overcoming personal hardships and sometimes trauma leaves irreparable damage.  No judgments from me -- I've had it easy compared to most.  Money and talent seem to be gifts that should cure all that ails; but we've seen time and again that they don't.

His dad is dying too I believe - has been hospitalized for months.  Like you said, Odom isn't the sanest guy out there, but being an emotional mess is pretty understandable.

What a disaster for the Mavs.  I thought Odom was going to do great things for them. 

I'd be very interested in nabbing Odom and one of Dallas' young guards (Jones or Beaubois) for a trade exception this coming season.  I think Odom has some good basketball left in him once he gets his head straight, and he'd make a nice one-year upgrade on Bass (as a starter) if we go one more year with KG.

I know Odom may look appealing as a potential Celtic in the future, but remember this is not the Lakers Lamar Odom, this is a new beast named Lamar Kardassian.

The Lakers got rid of him bc of the Kardassians and its highly unlikely 1) Lamar is giving up that meal ticket anytime soon and 2) he will play basketball outside of Los Angeles, Kardassian headquarters.

Lamar wants to be a celebrity not a basketball player, be very weary of athletes who sell their souls to Hollywood.  The two industries, sports and entertainment/celebrity, can have dire consequences when they merge. 

Stay away from Lamar Odom, unless he gets a divorce.

I don't know if he's being hospitalized as of today, but that time when he left his father wasn't as sick as they made it out to be. A couple of days after Lamar left to be with him, his father was on TMZ (I was flipping the channel) and he said he was fine and that he had a stomach virus.

I'm not sure why people feel the need to bring his wife into this. I haven't read that there is a problem in their relationship.

Lamar is to unstable to go through the business side of basketball, especially when he is also dealing with other tragedies. The Lakers were correct to move him once he got upset about the failed trade. They seemed to know him pretty well and to know that he would handle it poorly, unlike Pau.

It turns out the trade exception will contribute the same amount as Lamar during the playoffs without the Lakers having to pay salary (+ luxury tax).

Or he could be happy to be out of a situation he didn't want to be in, but know that expressing pleasure wouldn't be a good career move.

If they just released him, can't he just join any team he wants now? Maybe he can't be on their playoff roster for this year, but if he gets paid+ gets to choose his new team, it's win win for him. He never wanted to be a mav.

They didnt release him just have let him go away from the team by inactivating him on the roster. This allows them to use him in a trade this offseason.

Well, I do think that it's unfair to kloe to say she's acting improperly, I do think the fact that tabloids all over the country are questioning Lamar's state of mind, while also questioning the fidelity of his marriage, can't be doing anything but exacerbating the situation. Not that anyone can really control that.

EDIT: and my man card is nit at risk for knowing that, that's pure 'glancing at covers while the old lady counts her change at the checkout' material.

I'll always have a small soft spot in my heart for ex Rhody Rams.  I wish him well. 

I have a feeling that his days playing basketball at anywhere near the level he did for the champions Lakers are behind him.  If he decides to play again, I don't think he'll ever regain that form.  It was a perfect situation for him which he took full advantage of.

HA!!! SHe an't living in Boston....those TV stars want to be NEAR the camera ALL THE TIME.... thats how she makes money ...being known for nothing really that matters ....you know famous for being famous ...so she needs to be in NYC or LA or Miama at the least ...

I'll beat you she .   opps...he is so hen pecked..I mean Odem winds up on the HEAT....and they , the HEAT know this and are already plotting to obtain him.  

Far as Odem goes , I like him and he would be good on the Celtics......."SHE" would never move to the Sticks...

Maybe he'll dump her first ...and go back to playing basketball.
