  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Here's what I'd love to ask the Lakers front office:

Why hasn't Memphis' run last playoff make them reconsider what a commitment to the post could do for them? Memphis beat San Antonio, and took Oklahoma to 7; if Gasol and Bynum are almost unquestionably a better tandem than Randolph and M. Gasol, why don't they think their two giants could exceed that success if they focused on working inside-out?

The Memphis tandem is actually stronger than the Lakers tandem.
Check the stats. They are the strongest 1-2 combo in the NBA for scoring, rebounds and PER (don't quote me on the PER part)- even better than Lebron and Wade.

Memphis just lost to the Lakers in over time without Zeebo and Gay.
Imagine how nasty they'll be if Zeebo comes back this month and gets 2 months to warm up for the playoffs with Gasol+Gay.

Talk about a sleeper contender.
Anyway, the Lakers combo may look nicer because they are the Lakers, but the Memphis combo is actually getting more work done.
The only argument against what I have just said is that the Grizz went inside so much more last season when Rudy was out and the Lakers had Kobe to take the scoring load from their twin towers.
In theory Rudy Gay could do the same (which is what Memphis may fear).

The one team that could punish OKC in the conference finals this year with a match up nightmare?
Gasol+Zeebo vs Perkins+Ibaka. Could get real ugly and Durant+Harden+Westbrook better help OKC score 110-120 points a game and shoot very well.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Trading Noah would allow the Bulls to move Boozer to the center position, which could help out Chicago as Boozer is an above average defender against centers.

I am so saving that quote for next year's CelticsBlog Draft.

I'm 45% sure he meant it sarcastically, and just for you.

Im actually preparing several charts that confirm SO's assertion
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Lakers find a 3rd team to get a PG from and send Boozer there, than I can see this happening

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7ljdzs8

Gasol and Barnes to Bulls
Boozer and picks to Bucks
Jennings,Gooden,Watson and Dunleavy to Lakers

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6v2punt

Gasol to Bulls
Boozer and Watson to Bobcats
Augustine,Diaw, and Maggette to Lakers
Can't stop, Rondo!

Kobe would tolerate Evans for about 2 seconds before giving him the death stare.  That would be a match made in hell.

This might be the case. However in terms of talent LA would be hard pressed to turn down this trade.

Chemistry trumps talent sometimes and I think this is one of those instances.

It doesnt make sense to me to see the Lakers trade Gasol and I really dont know why his name keeps popping up in trade rumors. With Bynum and Gasol the Lakers have the best front line in the game, something that has helped them succeed in the playoffs. Losing Gasol would make the Lakers much less intimidating and just not as good.
