i was looking at posibly FAs and got to thinking who are the biggest untapped potentials in the NBA?

Meaning player that are young and either not playing at all or are teams 7th or 8th men just waiting for real minutes. These are the kinds of players who could thrive with a change of scenery. These guys might be worth a FA pick up/trading for when the celtics go into rebuild.

The NBA is full of talented players some just need court time to show it.

My list

Evan Turner
Anthony Randolph
Jason Thompson
Johnny Flynn

Mavs
Wiz
Hornet

Anthony Randolph has shown flashes of being a quality player he just has low basketball IQ cuz he came outta LSU too soon. Jason Thompson starts for the kings nd crashes the boards, Turner is way more effective wit the ball in his hands nd in a bad situation in philly wit Iggy Lou Williams nd Jrue Holiday ahead of him I think dde can average around 15 nd 7 rebounds if given rotation minutes. Flynn has had his oppurtunities, he's a bust

I think Randolph just doesn't have the BBIQ, and more importantly the drive to be a quality NBA player.

Flynn should never have been drafted in the lottery, and is just not a quality player.  He rode some big tournament games to a high draft pick, despite the fact that he is essentially a less explosive Nate Robinson.

Thompson is Mark Blount with less attitude...and less defense.  He basically is what he is.  He is too soft, and not skilled enough to be anything better than a rotation player on a bad team IMO.

Turner is another matter.  I am a huge Turner fan, and think he is going to be a very good NBA player.  He still needs to work on his shot, but once he gets in a better situation (he duplicated Iggy way too much), he will be an All Star caliber player.  It will be interesting to see what Philly does with him though.  I am sure they know what he can do, but he also is just a bad fit.  I think he would take a lot to be traded though.

I also like Turner, would love to seem him play the point with a player like A Bradley or R Boboius (spelling) playing undersized shooting guard next to him.

Flynn and Orton aren't NBA players. Maybe Orton cam mature into one, but I doubt it.

I think Daye has some role-player potential as a perimeter oriented PF. Unlikely he'll ever be a starter.

I don't think Lopez will be much better than he already is. Very limited contributor offensively with mediocre rebounding and defense. Another bench player.ยด

Jason Thompson is becoming a very solid role-player. Becoming a factor defensively and still has plenty of room to grow. High motor. Complimentary player offensively. I think he can be a Kurt Thomas type of player.

Turner is already very good - plus rebounder, playmaker (if asked to handle the ball), and defender at his position. He can become an All-Star type of player if he somehow improves his scoring. Not sure he will, he struggles a bit getting separation in spite of his already very advanced ball-handling and is a poor jump-shooter. But that's untapped potential, for sure.

Randolph has plenty of untapped potential - more than anyone else in this list, including Turner -, but a low probability of blossoming. I'd like to see Boston acquiring him if they go for a full rebuild though. Try to find a veteran big that can play alongside him. Or two, so that Doc can yank him when he's doing poorly.
