Pacers and Magic would go nowhere near this deal.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

I feel that Pierce is likely to stay a celtic...just for the fact that we arent going to get equal value in a trade for pierce. you are better riding out this season/next with him(giving veteran presence to the youth) and then let him retire a celtic

Which is probably what will happen.

Boston Celtics Receive
Paul George
Roy Hibbert

Indiana Pacers Receive
Paul Pierce
Marshon Brooks
Clippers First Round pick

Orlando Magic Receive
Brook Lopez
Mehmet Okur
NJ 2012 First round pick

New Jersey Nets Receive
Dwight Howard

Let me break this trade down into components so you understand how ridiculous it is.

The idea is a combination of the following:

Boston sends the Clippers pick and Paul Pierce to Indiana for Paul George and Roy Hibbert
New Jersey trades Brook Lopez, Mehmet Okur, and a first round pick for Dwight Howard
New Jersey sends Marshon Brooks to Indiana for....nothing.

You turn two unrelated trades into a four-way trade by having the Nets give away Brooks.

I'd be psyched.

Of course, why would the Magic trade Dwight Howard for Brook Lopez and involve us at all? NJ would do that in a heartbeat (and have tried)

Magic and probably the Pacers would want no part of it...The Nets wouldn't care since King is a god awful GM to begin with so any move they make will probably become a nice overpay. Nets and Celtics aren't giving up nearly enough.

Why are the Nets / Magic facilitating a trade between Boston and Indiana?  There's literally no incentive for either the Magic or Nets here, is there?  The Nets are just giving up Brooks to Indiana for nothing in the return.  Why not send him to Orlando instead, or keep him in NJ?

I think NJ would have to make it a `14 pick since they can't trade consecutive first rounders.

Are you sure? I thought New Jersey still had all their first round picks intact.

They may well be, but there's the old Cleveland Cavaliers "protect yourself from yourself" rule that won't allow you to trade consecutive year's picks (or maybe it's 3 in a row).

The Stepien rule.  Teams can trade future picks from consecutive years if they possess or gain another first round draft pick that is not theirs.  This is one reason why draft day trades of a player's rights are made; they can't legally trade the pick so they agree to draft for the other team and consummate the deal on draft day.

I THINK THAT THE CELTICS ARE JUST STRUGGLING.

THE CELTICS DOES NOT NEED TO TRADE ANY OF THE BIG FOUR.

THEY JUST NEED TO RELEASE/TRADE A PERSON FROM THEIR BENCH.

MR.AINGE SHOULD SIGN BASS AND GREEN BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY YOUNG AND VERY GOOD COMING OFF THE BENCH.

THEY ALSO NEED MORE YOUNGER PEOPLE AND LESS VETERANS.

IF THEY ARE GOING TO TRADE SOMEONE,THEY SHOULD GET PEOPLE LIKE JAMES POSEY AND TONY ALLEN.

IF THEY WANT TO START WINNING,THEY SHOULD MAKE CHANGES.BUT THEY SHOULD NOT TRADE ANY OF THE BIG FOUR

just a piece of advice . . . there's this thing called the Caps Lock button, it's probably on the far left side of your keyboard.  check to make sure you haven't pressed it and turned the Caps Lock on before you submit a post.

Billy King really loved Larry Bird and the Celtics growing up?
