We had Semih Erden last year. He's basically the same player, but  a little bit more mobile.

Pekovic though, is surprising a lot of people. We could use a dude like him, then again, we had the same player in Semih but we got rid of him.
What?  Erden had double figure boards just one time and double figure points just four times (there wasn't an overlap).  Pekovic is averaging 16.8 and 10.2 in his five February games and doing so on 65.4% from the field, all while playing with the best rebounder in basketball (and has two 20/10 games in that stretch).

There is no comparison.

Case lost. I was enlightened here. I just looked at it not by the stats, but how they played. They looked similar, but I can't make any case after you pointed out the stats.

Can we get him?

very reasonable contract (2 yrs/9 mil) and just hitting his prime at 25 yrs old. seems like a perfect fit in minny right now.

i'd love to see pekovic in a green jersey again. I'm a panathinaikos fan (his previous team in europe) and i got to see a lot of this guy. dude's a real tough SOB. he was absolutely awesome in the greek league and euro league when pao had him. he was projected to be a lotto pick in the nba draft at some point but his contract scared off nba teams. i was gutted when he left (they still havent found someone anywhere as good to replace him at pao).

he isnt gonna be a superstar but i can invision him being a very productive player. he's MILES ahead of semih erden. the guy has brute force and some skill by the basket. and if you thought perkins had a mean streak, you'd love this guy. oh, and dude's built like a montenegran tank.

I've only seen a small bit of the Wolves recent games but those glimpses of Pekovic reminded me a lot of what (old) Shaq did for the Celtics last season. The physical presence, toughness, interior finishing, rebounding his area but no more, lack of mobility and suspect team defense.

eh, not so much impressed by Pekovic in that clip as much as i am unimpressed with Cousins' defensive effort.

Obviously Cousins isn't making the best play, but you need good hands and footwork to make that move.

That is my go to move in the post - it's not that impressive.  It just takes a bit of practice (which he should be doing a lot of since its his job).  It was bad defense.  And it was a pre-meditated move so it's not so impressive that he "beat the double team", because had the double team came from the baseline, he would have had no idea and committed a charge.

Are you 6-11, weigh 290 lbs and dunk on guys of the same size? It's very different, if you are that big.

Except he didn't dunk on anybody, nevermind anyone his size.  Cousins was behind him and out of the picture, I think that looked like 6'6 John Salmons standing somewhere near the vicinity of the hoop.

This is a basic post move that most centers use and every center should have been taught at sometime.  You use it to dupe a defender that wants to go for the blocked shot.  Unless you are 6-11 and weigh 290 pounds, have practiced this move repeatedly and failed, then you are nobody better than me to comment of the difficulty of the move for him.  Every big man has this move in their repertoire.

FWIW, this move isn't actually a "spin move" as the title of the video says.  It's a pivot, up-fake, then step through.  If you watch closely, you can see that.  And he doesn't even really give/sell a good up-fake (not one at all actually).  But Cousins bites anyways.  When you have a really crappy defender on you though (like in this instance) who you know will bite, sometimes you don't even need to bother with the up-fake, like Pek didn't.

I just like him because he reminds me of a henchman for a Bond villian.

Who cares about this play?

The bigger story is that the guy is playing well and producing for an up and coming team.

Maybe this play wasnt anything too special, but the guy is using his body effectively and doesn't have two left feet.

The one deal I could see that would even entice the Wolves in the slightest would be Ray for Pekovic and filler.  Ray would give them the shooting guard they have been missing, and would also add some veteran leadership for a young team trying to make the leap into the playoffs.

Not even that. Ridnour is on fire lately, Barea and Adelman are all the experience the team needs. Right now they're just hungry and agile bunch of guys who CAN - PLAY. OKC, Portland, Denver, Minny is stacked on the same shelf with them.

Having watched him while he was playing in Greece, I think this is a very accurate description.

which is why they should inquire about Dwight:  Pekovic, Williams, Johnson/Beasley, Randolph/Ellington for Dwight and Hedo.  They could even throw in Barea or Ridnour if necessary.
