Wussification? In this particular case, it's called "being a punk" (by the way, it's kind of hard to side with Perkins on this one, he basically created a confrontation out of nothing).

Actually, basketball is not a physical sport. It was never supposed to, it's a game of skill. What made it physical was the obsession of casting US sports as being played by "tough guys". Wanna be a tough guy? Win the game. Want to fight? Boxing and mixed martial arts are waiting for you.

Im not talking about fighting. Im talking about the outlawing of confrontation.

Im not talking specifically about Perk here but yeah they both look like punks and you know why? Because they have to revert to staredowns and shouting matches instead of a good hard foul to send a message. Im not talking about cheapshots either. Just a physical outlet for these guys. In an attempt to make the game more family friendly, Stern has managed to make the game less enjoyable in my opinion.

If a guy takes exception to how another guy is playing, this is what happens and these huge guys look rediculous and look like punks.

Maybe Dr. Naismith wanted guys shooting at peach baskets without making contact with each other but I dont care.

One of the most fascinating aspects of sports in confrontation and battles of physicality. Basketball at one time was a game that showcased both skill and physicality. Now the skills and fundamentals are watered down and the game is less physical.

Seriously, I really want to see changes in the game going forward. I think most casual fans would agree as well. Hockey is going to overtake basketball in popularity pretty soon.

You bring up a very interesting point.  Would cheap-shots be as common if there were still "consequences" (aka clotheslines) in the game?  Would Wade have been allowed to play such a dirty series against us?  Would he have gotten as far as hurting Rondo if someone had put a stop to that SAME move he had already used multiple times on Pierce?  I LOVED how KG returned a hard moving pick in that series, but maybe he wouldn't have had to if players were the least bit worried about getting punched in the face after unsportsmanlike plays.
