TA beat out Mayo because Mayo and Gay where horrible together. Mayo is a scorer and TA is a defender who doesn't need to shoot. With Conly,Gay, Randolph and Gasol the Grizz have no problem scoring but aren't a great defensive unit.

Gay missed a lot of games last year while TA was playing ahead of Mayo.

The lineup still had Conley, Randolph, Gasol, and Gay was replaced with Sam Young who is also a scorer and sub par defender.  Allen fits better with the starting unit better than Mayo does.

To prove the point, who is better Thabo Sefolosha or James Harden?  How about Deshawn Stevenson or Jason Terry?  Joel Anthony or Udonis Haslem?
