There seems to be an assumption here that Austin Rivers wants to play for his dad.  Even if he does want to, there is potential for some awkward dynamics.

yeah, i don't think it's such a great idea.  in any case, unless austin projects to be an absolute star i'd rather draft a player at a position which is difficult to fill (particularly a center or pf/c).
The thing is though, besides the potential first 2 picks (Andre Drummond and Anthony Davis), there aernt really any guys that are likely to make a big impact at the 4 or 5, unless james mcadoo enters the draft (which the scouts seem to think is unlikely). In a draft so full of potential stars, i think Danny should shoot for the stars, take advantage of the draft by trading up, and get the best player available at whatever pick we can get.
I mean the Plumlee kid and the Zeller kid are big men, but they are kinda underwhelming to me.

there are oodles of big men in the draft class, though, and at least at the moment all of them are projected to go higher than austin.  even if we were selecting a wing, i'd rather take a guy like MKG or Barnes over AR.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Totally agree. Qiincy Miller, Michael Gilchrist, and Harrison Barnes would be my top choices in this draft. I'm just saying if any of those three are available, we should take them over whichever big men are still available, because the big men still left on the board most likely wont be that great.

But Harrison will probly be gone in the top 5. I love his game though.
