If one thing became clear this post-season, it is that athleticism is more important now than ever.  We have 4 guys that can be considered athletic right now.  Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Delonte West(underrated athlete), and Jeff Green.  We have four veterans in Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnet and Jermaine O'Neal.  We also have Glen Davis who now has had his playoff success tempered with his share of struggles and shown steady improvement over his career.
The debate over who starts is only a matter of politics.  The question is what units should be on the floor for the majority of the game.  We know that the game is going to be closed by Rondo, Allen, Pierce, KG and O'Neal.  What unit should run with the athletic squads for the duration of the regular season without exhausting our closers?
I propose we use the unit of Rondo, West, Green, Baby(or Free Agent/Trade) and O'Neal.  A line-up with plenty of youth and athleticism with a good mix of experience.  This is also a great defensive unit, and should be decent offensively with Rondo running the show.  This would help Rondo grow beyond the shadow of the Big 3 and help his scoring and give Green a chance to fulfill his potential.
To complement the first unit we play Bradley, Allen, Pierce, KG and Draft Pick.  This would allow Bradley and Draft Pick to develop in a way similar to Rondo/Perkins.  The big 3 would still be the heart of the team but they would be strictly limited to 30 min or less.  Ideally our Draft Pick would be a young athletic center who does not have to be offensively gifted but can defend (Nogueira, Benson, Ezeli).  Or we can Draft a power-forward and try to land Chandler, Nene, Oden, Dalembert or Jordan.
Probably we should still start Rondo, Allen, Pierce, KG and O'Neal, but sub out the big 3 quickly and bring them back with Bradley and a young center.
Our needs are a 6'10 athletic power-forward, a 7 ft defensive center, and maybe a 6'5-6'6 athletic shooting guard (Shumpert, Brooks).  If we can get these 3 pieces via trades/draft/free-agency we can adapt to the changing times while gradually limiting the role of the big 3 and prepare for the future.
