OKC:  Rondo,fillers

BOS: chris paul

NOH: westbrook,JO and 2012 1st from LAC

thoughts ?

Funny because last night this was precisely what I was thinking, especially if OKC loses today.

The only problem I can see is the salaries. CP3 makes like $15M, Rondo $10M and Westbrook $5M. The C's can make it work for CP3, but bringing in OKC would require them to add on contracts that they really don't have.

Thunder are laughing at that idea. They have two starters that can score they won't get rid of one to take on rondo, Durant would see triple teams every possession.

Durant would definitely benefit from a PG looking to feed him rather than a PG trying to outscore him. I think there is a real possibility they would look at Rondo.
I think Durant and Rondo would be a great combo but they cannot do it on that team unless they made a lot of other changes. They have no scoring up front with perk and ibaka and they have sefolosha starting at the 2 guard.

If Harden started and played well they might have a chance but they would have no bench scoring. I don't think this is a team Rondo would fit well on. They could be an exciting defensive team but they would be too one dimensional on offense in the playoffs imo.

One would assume that the Thunder will have at least a slightly different roster next year. They could add scoring off the bench. But Who was right, they'd probably prefer CP3.

By the way, when Westbrook takes 20 shots or less in the playoffs the Thunder are 5-0. When he takes more than 20 shots the Thunder are 2-4. He's averaging 27 a game in their losses and 21 in their wins (19 in their wins if you don't count the extra points from the triple overtime win). People are enthralled with scoring, other things matter as well (like 6.4 assists and 4.5 turnovers a game from your point guard).

At least he is doing something in those losses.

Rondo in losses gets like 4 points and 5 assists.

People always talk about how on this team Rondo isn't asked to score he is asked to distribute.

You think maybe since we have 3 other all stars and OKC only hs one other that OKC is asking Westbrook to score more?

Him and Durant are going to get 20 shots a game by design anyway, I don't see there being a problem with Westbrook taking 3 more shots every once in a while when they only have one other true offensive threat on the team

Why would OKC want Rondo instead of Chris Paul?

I mean they are the ones that are sending Westbrook to New Orleans. They could just trade Westbrook for Paul. Why would they not do that and pick Rondo instead?

Because who else would OKC give up to make it work? They simply can't afford to get him, unless they are willing to give up more of their important pieces (think Harden or Ibaka) to make it work.

CP3 is better than Rondo, but not that much better. And he is significantly cheaper.

And I hear their center knows Rondo.
TP

OKC have to give up too much for CP3, they need us to facilitate such a trade.

Is a top-ten protected Clippers pick really worth that much?  I think Cole Alrich + a #1 + cash would be worth at least as much as that pick.

So Westbrook might shoot less and pass more on the Celts. Rondo might shoot more on another team. Or he might just keep passing because it's better for that offense. Who knows? But I'm not sure Westbrook shooting his team out of multiple playoff games was really the game plan.

The way I see it, Rondo at his best is preferable to either Chris Paul or Westbrook.   But he's just so inconsistent.

Comparing "best to best", I'd still prefer Paul.

If Cp3 was 5 years younger then yes.

I think his age and previous injuries put up a red flag for alot of people including me.
If he goes down over the next 2 years, then what happens to the C's?
Just very scary to alot of C's fans when they've seen dreams of 2 or 3 titles snatched with injuries repeatedly.

CP3 is so tempting though because:

a) the window is probably extended with the big 3 because of the spacing he provides with shot+ passing and overall pick n roll domination.

b)his ability to attract Dwight Howard long term.

Garnett/Green and even Ray+PP would get soooo many open jump shots and it would take the scoring load off PP and Ray.
Watching CP3 dismantle the Lakers this year on his own with  NO's mediocre left over big guys in the playoffs was incredible.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I understand the injury concerns, but age?  Paul is nine months older than Rondo.

If he's put on the market, what team offers a better option for New Orleans?  We can give a young all-star PG on a reasonable contract + draft picks + Bradley and/or Green.

I don't think many other teams can provide that type of quality.
