No, I'm not talking about Delonte West or Big Baby Davis, though it sure is nice to have them back.. I'm talking about the bigger D.. our DEFENSE!
Since acquiring 5 new players, our defense has faltered a bit, understandably because the new guys are not too familiar with the rotations and defensive schemes.. And of course, none of them are known too well as stoppers. But somehow, we managed to win 5 straight. In our little slump over LAC and Philly, though, we allowed an average of about 98 points and 46% shooting. And second-string centers like deandre jordan and spencer hawes went crazy almost posting career numbers in points. During the last three games against the bucks, nets and pacers, the defense finally woke up as the Celtics only allowed 31%, 40% and 38% FG shooting, repectively. We only lost to NJ on that stretch, but that was because we couldn't execute down the stretch, but of course that's another story. With the way we're currently playing, it seems the new recruits have been buying into the defense and we're back to playing the way we used to.. Defense definitely wins championships, and we're close to being dominant again.. Now if only we could grab those boards...
