Unless you wish to play Miami followed by Chicago, our seed does matter.

I don't know why people think we can just go into Chicago, beat them in 6 or 7 and be on our way. Would someone honestly explain this thought process to me? Did the 2008, 2009 playoff series against them prove nothing to you people? How many 7 game triple overtime series against them does it take to prove to you people that this team, which is only getting better, is capable of beating us when the right things fall into place? Without HCA, those game 7s we played against Chicago probably would've looked a lot more like the game 7 we played in LA.

If you think Chicago is going to let their most hated rival walk into their building and beat the number one team in the East on their home floor, I have a bridge in London you might interested in purchasing. And even if we did, would we really have gas in the tank left for LA? Our road was even easier last year and we were still toasted by the time we got to LA.

Isn't insanity defined as doing the same thing and expecting a different result? We did it right in 2008 and look at the result. Tank this season, give up home court, get rested for the playoffs and we'll see how that formula works out.
Never stop believing baby~

I don't think there's an easy road, but I'd rather take my chances with Orlando in the second round and let Miami and Chicago duke it out.  Then, I'd like us to face the winner of that series with home court advantage.  Then, I'd like home court advantage against whoever we would meet in the finals.  My guess is it'll be the Lakers out of the West.  I'll root for anyone to take them out, but my gut tells me they'll be there.  Hopefully, we will too, and we'll have a game 7 in the gahden.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

The problem with this line of thinking is that the Celtics pretty much took this mindset/approach last season (minus staying ahead of the Lakers), valuing health over all else, and it burned them in the Finals.  The same faulty premise is being used in this argument.  That is, assuming we are good enough to beat anyone in the East w/o homecourt.  With an older team, you've also have to consider the toll it will take to advance this way, and what they'll have left for a challenging Finals matchup.  The number one seed in the East most likely gets a gimme round against Indiana, and the 2nd seed will get all it can handle from Philly.  The point in summary is that the number one seed makes the path to the finals much easier and keeps the team potentially fresher as the advance. It's makes these recent losses to the Clippers and Nets so [dang] disappointing.

Yeah we were also without KG that series with Brian Scalabrine/Mikki Moore playing significant minutes.

And I'd say our road was pretty difficult last year. Going through Orlando and Cleveland (the top 2 regular season teams in the league) without homecourt was no easy task. I'm not saying that the Celtics would definitely win again on the road this time around, but it can be done.

P2 makes the most valid point. WHile it would be smart to cruise to the playoffs and rest people (sometime more than needed), losing the 1st seed would be a tough battle come playoffs:

1st: Philly/MIL/CHA  NBD

2nd: due to a second seed or 3rd we play Miami (Not a threat but wait for ECF)

3rd: Although we would win against Heat, it would be a grind; some close games, Lebron and Wade Hero Ball, Ray or Paul off nights etc. But after that series we play the Bulls without HCA.

I believe the only two teams that have a chance to win the east are BOS and CHI, BUT we are still the team to beat. I am not afraid of CHI in a best of 7 series, but HCA will definitely play a role (09 round 1 despite KG being out).

IDK how CHI schedule is looking but I know ours is fairly easy to end the season. Darn, then again we tend to pull a no show against bad teams.

We just lost 3 of 4 (not 3,4, or 5 in a row), and some more b2b games are coming, but NOW is the time to finish strong! we are up 2-1 so far this season on CHI, if we can beat them this last game, I think we will secure 1st seed.

But ya OP, stay ahead of Laker
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

The thread starter is correct. Playoff Celtics won't need home court advantage against Chicago. Bulls' lack of playoff experience will expose them. I feel the same way about Miami, but to a lesser extent. I feel like they can explode offensively at any point in time.
