I think the backup SG in the playoffs will be some combination of Delonte West, Paul Pierce, and Jeff Green.  I doubt that either Wafer or Pavlovic sees a lot of time.

No. First, can't solidify a spot by missing 10 games to injury. Second, he isn't going to see a second of time during the playoffs unless we have a lot of injuries.

I think that Carlos Arroyo will probably see more time than Wafer or Pavlovic (assuming Delonte West is healthy, which is probably as wise as assuming Jermaine O'Neal will be healthy).  Between Pavlovic and Wafer, I think Doc goes with whoever he believes will contribute more on defense.  That's something that may change from series to series and even from game to game.

Arroyo/Murphy/Wafer/Pavlovic wont seen an ounce of playing time. Zilch. Nada.

Krstic im hoping will only see 5-10 minutes.

Considering that Wafer was buying into defense before he got injured, the answer can easily be him, IF he gets healthy. There is room for him to backup Ray.

There isn't has much room for Pavlovic with Green being the backup SF.

Yes.  People forget that each position only has 48 minutes of available time at it.  If Jeff Green were to only backup Paul Pierce, he'd likely be limited to 12 mpg.  The only way to get him extra minutes is to slide people around.  While we may seem him at the 4 a little bit, the fact of the matter is that if we do that, it's going to be tough to find Baby minutes, who should see less time at the 5 with (hopefully) two healthy O'Neals and Krstic.

So that pretty much only leaves the option of swinging PP down to the 2 (thus eating up practically all the backup 2 minutes behind Ray) to give Green somewhere around 25 mpg.

And while that's unfortunate for Wafer, I think we'd all agree that 10-15 extra minutes of Jeff Green on the floor is a net gain over Wafer.

And thus, I don't see any time for Arroyo, since West is going to have to get most (if not all) of his minutes at the backup 1.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
It was nice to see Wafer as a productive player, but I doubt he is even on the active roster for one game during the playoffs. He was really never supposed to play, but was forced into time due to injury. If nothing else, he at least changed his image around the league.

Agreed.  Setting aside the 4-5 for the time being (since we dont know and can only guess at whether/when the Oneils get back), we have Rondo-Ray-Paul getting 36 mins each and then back up will be West-Green getting 18 mins each (or something like that).  No room for Wafer, Arroyo, Sasha, Bradley.
