Murphy was a 15/10 player just last year. Its debatable that Murphy is better then BBD, he is also taller and longer then BBD.
Baby is better defensively which is what the Celtics value most. So we shall see.
I really like that we have alot of offensive options now. We are a versitile team, that can score and defend. Im loving it so far.
I loved Perk, but he was a disaster on offense and a non-factor, he was also slow and unathletic, all of those traits are hard to live with in the long run. We got better on offense by leaps and bounds, and our defense should still be solid.
If Perkins is slow and unathletic, Murphy is a paralytic.
That's why I'm not very optimistic about Murphy eating Davis minutes. He's too bad of a defender; he'd need to be in great form offensively.
Huh? I agree that it won't be a cakewalk to leapfrog Baby in the rotation given the rust and learning curve facing him, but how in the world does Murphy come out unfavorably in an athletic comparison with the modern day Perk?!?
Murphy's slow laterally, short-armed (for a big) and has poor reaction speed defensively (Perk has him beat here), but his basic athletic skillset far surpasses Perk's. Perk shambles up and down the floor, takes 5 seconds to finish an uncontested dunk, and makes beeping noises when he backs up. Troy Murphy can run full speed, make a clean catch in motion, stop on a dime and nail a 3-pointer.
