We split the MLE between Eddie and one of the draft picks that year.

Yeah, and then gave some to Starbury, too, mid-season.

As others have said, while the situation sucks, I think we'll all appreciate him if Shaq or Perk gets sidetracked in the playoffs. 

Moreover, JO as he played in games that he played this year would've been enough to get us #18 last year when Perk went down. 

Remember, everyone was ready to write Sheed off last year, then he came through for the playoffs.  The problem was, he was the 4th big.  Right now, JO is positioned to be our 5th. 

He's pretty nice insurance, even if he can only do what he's done thus far when he's played.
