Here's a report from Marc Stein.  He may be a bonehead, but he's our bonehead?  Any chance Wafer and, say, Luke could be swapped for him?

Boston let him walk because they weren't gonna give him 3 years.  Why would they then trade for him, and in doing so take on the 3 year contract they didn't want to give him in the first place??  Doesn't make sense.

Spot on.  The C's moved on because Tony wanted more money and years than they felt he was worth.  I don't think his lackluster performance in Memphis has changed their minds on his worth.

Really?  It had nothing to do with everyone expiring in 2 years so we can build around Rondo?

Well, of course that played a role in their determining his value/length of time they want to pay him.  I wasn't getting into WHY they decided he wasn't worth that contract, just stating that they made that decision, and are probably not going to change their mind right now.

Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant, but I think it's very possible they did think Tony was worth the contract and just didn't offer it to him because it didn't fit into their plans.

Obviously that doesn't mean they'll change their mind.  I highly doubt we'd trade for anybody that affects our cap flexibility.

Not to get too philosophical here, but I tend to think what a team offers a player (in their final offer) is the definition of what they think the player is wroth to them. 

True if you're talking about his worth TO THEM.  But that's a little different than his overall worth (money-wise).

Ummm, I am really confused here.  Why would I not be talking about what he was worth to them?  I was talking about the decision the C's made.  The only thing that matters in that situation is what they think he is worth to them, because that is what they are not going to pay more than.

I thought you said Tony wasn't worth the money he was asking for.  I was saying he was worth the money, the Celtics just couldn't pay it due to other circumstances.
