http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/boston/basketball/celtics/2010/10/09/doc-on-miami-rumor-im-not-going-there/ Apparently he doesn't wan't to so that's good.

I think Danny will be able to keep him, but to be fair, in context Doc's "I'm not going there" means "I'm not going to talk about other options for what is another sitting coach's job".  He said he wouldn't discuss it, so that clearly wasn't a denial about something he wasn't going to discuss.

I think it is a pretty clear case of Riley getting his plausibly deniable tampering oar in on the news that Doc is thinking of staying, however.  And Doc's an honorable guy, I don't believe for a minute he expressed an interest in staying to chum the waters for other prospective offers.

If LeBron doesn't get along with Spoelstra, he now has the option of quitting on his coach just like he gave up during the playoffs last season to force a coaching change.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
No reason why Riley wouldn't want Doc. Other than Phil Jackson Doc has the best proven championship record of managing egos.

Doesn't mean he'll get him. I'm sure Riley would take on Jackson too.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Riley's gonna end up on that bench coaching...mark it down.
