Take a second to check it out if you have clear skies in your area.  Pretty cool.

I love stuff like this thanks for posting.  I noticed the bright "star" next to the full moon but would have never noticed it to be Jupiter without this post.

You'll find Jupiter near it's brightest and (seemingly) closest to the moon every year at this time ... very cool that Uranus also lines up so closely this year. If you're into Astronomy or Astrophysics, you should see the movie "Hubble" ... absolutely awesome. Wish I was home in Maine ... the light pollution where I am is terrible, but this will last for a couple of weeks. I've heard that even a great pair of binoculars will show the Great Red Spot because Jupiter is so close, (some of the larger Jovian moons, too). Awesome stuff, Redz ... thanks for posting! (TP)

Back on Labor Day weekend up in Gloucester I noticed a bright star in the sky. At first I thought it was Mars, but Jupiter it indeed was. I live near Boston so it's cool to get away from the city lights and pollution and check out the sky  :)
