Not sure if its been pointed out in these terms, but the bottom line is that we essentially traded:
1) Tony Allen for Delonte West and Von Wafer
and
2) Rasheed Wallace for Shaq and Jermaine

Two good trades.

In each case we traded 1 rotation worthy player for 2.  I think the simplest approach is to view this as a luxury and find the talent combinations that work best and have the flexibility to match up as different teams present different challenges.

Still, the one glaring missing piece (IMO) is a shut-down defender at the 3.

I think Wafer is the odd man out unless he really, really impresses.  Delonte may be a little nuts, but he started for the Cavs two years ago and was valuable for them last year, which is a lot more than Von Wafer can say, as he's only been even a rotation player one year of his NBA career.

And I think Wafer is really going to have to go above and beyond to beat out Daniels for the backup 3 spot.  Daniels has better height and better defense, which means a lot more in the long run than a little extra scoring, which out second unit should have no trouble with.

Overall I see

Rondo
Allen
Pierce
Garnett
J. O'Neal

Robinson
West
Daniels
Davis
S. O'Neal

I think we'll actually see a full second unit at least for the regular season.  And I think it's quite good.  All of our backups have been starters in the not so distant past and all probably could start for many NBA teams.

I would like to see a full 2nd unit for the 1st part of season to give guys time (that need it) and others less minutes
c JO/Shaq
pf KG/Davis/JO
sf PP/Marquis/Luke (give the kid some minutes, we might need him if Daniels gets hurt)
sg Ray/DWest/Wafer
pg Rondo/Nate/DWest

Obviously for sub guards we don't have minutes for Nate, Delonte & Wafer.  Younger guys can be sent to Maine, I'd assume one of these guys is going to be traded.  To me its Wafer but we'll have to wait and see

This looks correct - as long as Jermaine really was hurt in the playoffs last season and can play better than that...

Bradley
West/Wafer
Harangody
BBD
Shaq

Don't see much separation between the second and third units once Perk comes back. Harangody can give BBD a run for his money and will be able to play some SF as well.
