[dang it]! I had wild hopes of Marvin Williams/Shane Battier backing up the wing (I don't think I was alone either!).

So long Sheed, thanks for the playoffs and (as someone pointed out in the front page) the exhibition in low post defense.

PP/RA's legs will not thank DA if he doesn't have something up his sleeve come the trade deadline .. Daniels isn't enough at the 3.
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

we still need a wing. Maybe we can trade BBD for a solid 3, because i'm not sold on a Daniels+Wafer combo. Is Jared Dudley a FA or is he still with the Suns? Well, a player like that.

signing Louis Amundson (like a poster previously said) doesn't seem like a bad idea either to replace BBD with, if we can get a solid 3.

It's definitely a disappointment, but oh well.  The only question I have is, why do this now, rather than wait until closer to the start of the season?
My guess is our 15th man options were going to go elsewhere if we didn't move soon.

Either that or Sheed was sick of waiting and the new rumors of "he's coming back" every two weeks.

This leaves our sf plan at Paul Pierce, Marquis Daniels (which I'm fine with) but then a drop off to Gaffney who hasn't really made the team yet.  If Danny doesn't bring in a big defensive sf or someone good enough at defense who can hit the three we should look at bringing scal back at min. contract.
yep i'm serious
Of course I'm still hoping Battier, Prince etc come over.

Big Baby plays best when he has someone to impress.  Garnet pushed his buttons until he balled (double ontandra intended).  So with Shaq here there's no telling how hard baby is going to play.

Our front court needs to beat Miami's front court cause we're not beating their back court.

TP which makes the 10 min a game extra wing concept even more ironic.  The blue print is pretty obvious...  I guess if they want to sign a vet min guy for injury purposes there is no downside but, the names being thrown around this blog have little to no talent.

I had the 'hoped' the trade BBD comments would dwindle with 1 less big (since as you correctly noted that's how will beat Miami) but, assumed it wouldn't sadly..

i beg to differ, Rondo is a lot better than Chalmers, and coming back from FIBA, his skills should improve as well

Yes DWade and Lebron does have advantage over Ray and Paul BUT

remember Ray also lit up Wade during the series, defensively for Miami, Wade will have a tough time fighting off picks to catch ray ray (put in Shaq, Wade will take more steps getting around Shaq)...

Lebron as we saw in the semi finals, had a bigger impact on Pierce than Artest did...Pierce production will be quite low

overall yes Miami is indeed stronger but our front court does indeed own theirs,

our backcourt is not as great as Miami but its doable, and matchable, their bench is weak in my opinion, throw in our bench consistently I do not see a reason why we cannot match with Miami

remember 08-09 and 09-10? because our lack of bench production, fatigue and injury hit our starters...

if Miami's bench do not produce or play defense, their 3 kings will play 35+ mpg, i mean maybe injury and fatigue will not have as much as an effect compare to our starters because of age, but if our bench is better than theirs, our starters do indeed get a lot more rest

Davis is clearly the most tradeable player on the roster at this point, so any talk about upgrading via trade is very likely to include him.  He's pretty much going to be the center of almost any proposed mid-season deal, so get used to the idea of more comments unless the team looks like no change is necessary.

Maybe they were waiting to see if they'd need his contract to sign a 4th big.

Or more likely, Sheed wasn't just going to wait around that long waiting to see what would happen.  The Celts more than likely would had to have payed Sheed his salary if he was going to wait to retire (and help the Celts).  I assume the Celts would not want to do that so they went ahead and cut a deal with Sheed right now.

The idea (that apparently some posters had) that Sheed was just going to wait around for six months or longer so that the Celts could trade him were unrealistic to begin with.  Again, that only happens is the Celts were paying his contract.

Don't know if that's the case.  I couldn't see Sheed objecting to the C's paying him to sit at home and essentially be retired.

Yeah, I agree that Sheed would not have objected.  But  from the Celts perspective, they likely felt they risk was not worth the reward.  That is, they likley preferred to just settle now rather than pay Sheed's full salary in the hopes that they could trade him sometime in the future.
