I'm perfectly fine not getting Ariza.  He is overrated, and slightly overpaid.  I don't think he would fit in to this teams future very well.

Not to mention, the C's didn't have a Courtney Lee to trade.  Don't sleep on him, he is a very nice piece, and the kind of guy who has slipped under the radar that Houston has targeted over the years.  I don't think the C's could have competed with this deal.

Houston pretty much traded him for Courtney Lee which is like a salary dump.
Courtney Lee is not a salary dump. He's a rotation player with playoff experience.

A. Lee himself was a late 1st rounder just a couple of seasons ago. He's a solid player, not exactly the greatest late round pick.

Lee is a known quantity.  The draft pick involves some risk.  By your numbers, there's a 30% chance the draft pick will be a better player than Courtney Lee, but a bigger chance that he will be worse.  Plus, the players better than Courtney Lee may be at a position where Houston has no need.

Houston may be happy to be a playoff team that is unlikely to win a title.  You also seem to think it impossible that Houston values Courtney Lee more than you do (or that Houston values Ariza or a draft pick less).

I wish I could say this is an unbelievable thread...

Signed Doc
Signed Paul
Signed Ray
Signed Nate
Signed Daniels
Signed and Drafted Bradley and G.O.A.T.y
Signed JO
Signed SO
undersized

Danny wake up!

I think NO made out the best in that trade.  Good starting 5. Got rid of Posey and added a younger more athletic player who not more than just a corpse.  Now if Paul isn't overrated they should have something going...

The real negative from this trade is the fact that there is no pipe dream of us getting Shane Battier

I think it's important to remember that the Celtics can't trade for every player in the league who is moved and has ability

these are the kind of posts that will make people think that Celtics fans are just as bad as Lakers fans. Courtney Lee isn't just some sort of salary dump. There was no way danny could have gotten in on this deal.

Amen to that, people need to stop this call for Danny's head cause he didn't get in on Ariza. Courtney Lee is a solid back up player, he excelled in Orlando, plays great defense, and is very valuable in limited roles.

He struggled in New Jersey cause... IT WAS NEW JERSEY.

Hou didn't just straight salary dump, and there is no chance in hell Danny could have offered any player as useful as Lee will be to the Rockets to get into this deal.

I think it is a positive that a trade idea that was never going to happen should now seem unrealistic to everyone so that it never gets brought up again.

The more I think about the idea of Danny sleeping while other teams are talking trades, the crazier it sounds.  Danny has made mistakes in the past, but I don't think any of them have been related to not being active / not having enough discussions.  It seems like the Celtics are linked to almost every reasonable name that is put on the market.
