Why doesn't Perk have a faceup game?

I think Perk's biggest failing as a player is that he spends too much time pushing and getting into the contact down low.  Yes, contact is import to track your man and establish position.  But many a time he is more concerned about that physical domination/position than actually rebounding or catching the ball.  Once you have position it should be held with one's legs and maybe one arm bent into the opposition.  Perk gets so caught up in the pushing that sometimes he baubbles the ball and the like.  Not many guys like to play the post anymore or the contact.  Perk does but he is a tad too eager to mix it up.  It makes him foul prone and he misses a lot of Rondo's passes too as a result.

Because he's a big lumbering guy w/ little athleticism?  He plays to his talents very well though and he's a nice 5th option on offense.  He plays his role and doesn't mind being the enforcer(which of course he gets chastised for, by some around here...) I'm hoping we start hearing about him working out in Jan and expect him to be ready to start the 2nd half of the season which would be more than enough time to get back into game shape for playoff push.  A front line of JO/KG/BBD/Perkins would do damage on every team in the East.  The only team close is LA which we won't see until we meet up again in the Finals.

He's offensively challenged - some of the worst hands you'd ever want to see on an NBA center.

He can defend and rebound, though, which makes him valuable - on a team with quality scorers.

I question, however, whether he has any value to the Celtics once the Big 3 retire and we're scrambling to score at all with him and Rondo and whoever.

4. Severely slow first step

5. Inability to spin quickly

6. Little to no vertical elevation
