People who follow Bill Simmons' Twitter feed will get the reference:

Very well done.

I get the reference but that's more due to my very short lived fandom of wrestling as a child than it is Bill Simmons.

I don't agree with it though.

Can't say how many times I've said if I were an NBA player or even if I were Lebron that I would take less money to play with great players.

I think I'm in the vast minority here when I say I actually like Lebron a lot more then now then I did before.

LeBron James could have called a simple press conference.  Could have said words to the effect of:

Quote
I've loved these past seven years in Cleveland.  I've loved my teammates.  I've loved my coaches.  Ownership has done everything they can to surround me with some tremendous players.  Most of all, I love the fans.  It's been frustrating at times, we did not get everything done that we set out to do but I'm proud of what we have accomplished.

I will always love Cleveland and always call it my hometown.

With that said, I've decided the time is right for me to fulfill a dream and to join with two of my best friends, playing for the Miami Heat.  I'm excited about this new chapter in my life, blah blah blah...

The simple bullEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. that we all expect to hear.  Don't make a big deal out of taking a tiny bit less money, just let that be known to ESPN and they'll make that into a big deal for you.

If he just handles himself like that...  freakin' Public Relations 101-type Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.....  a lot of people who be feeling the same way.  "Hey, he wants to win, he's sacrificing some money to play with his friends and to try and form something special."  People would buy that.

That's all he had to do.  No hour-long, "LOOK AT ME!" specials.  No referring to yourself in the third person.  No dressing in sweaters with your a 12-inch logo of your initials on the chest.

Maybe Dwayne Wade can teach him some class....

TP, very well said.  My further dislike of Lebron has very little to do with him leaving Cleveland for Miami.  It has almost all to do with the way he's handled this whole free agency thing (for the past 2 seasons!).  Look at the 2 twitter names:

KingJames
KDThunderUp

Who cares about team and playing with friends and who has an ego bigger than the 100+ million dollar "discounted" contract he just signed?  Wade does need to teach him some class!

Hilarious and very well put together I might add. Here is another video I found that amused me.
