Not sure how I feel about Shaq going to San Antonio.

On one hand, it makes them older + slower + more vulnerable defensively. On the other hand, it would allow them to actually matchup against Los Angeles and give them a fighting chance against the Lakers (which they haven't had for two years now).

Shaq would disrupt our chemistry? Seriously?

Is managing him worse than managing Sheed?

Sheed always has been considered a great teammate. He just has on court anger issues.
A great teammate who played with zero effort for the entire regular season.  Give me Shaq over JO any day of the week.  JO is a phony choker.  At least Shaq tries to win.

I'm not so sure about this. Last year in the playoffs he was clearly banged up, but also facing the best interior defender in the league against Perk.

He has been asked to be the # 1 or 2 options on the playoff teams he has been on (Ind,Mia). He is clearly not at that level, but with the C's he will be the 5th option on offense ( probably the best 5th option in the league). He gives the C's the ability to run the pick and roll with either big man, this is going to be huge for Rondo and I think we will be the most efficent offense in the league.

Oneal is a very good defender still . He is a very good weakside defender and can cover the pick and role easily.

He is a much better fit than Shaq.

This makes sense. He doesn’t fit the team ON COURT chemistry wise. He’s be playing better defense against his own teammates than against the opposition.

In a defensive first team, I don’t want the worst pick and roll big in the league. Despite his VERY impressive offensive numbers (even at the age of 49)

I'd rather sign a guy like Jermaine O'Neal or Brad Miller.

Did you watch rounds 1 or 2 this past post-season? Jermaine O'neal was shooting 30% from the floor getting good looks at the bucket playing big minutes, and Shaq was 12 and 7 in limited minutes having to create for himself.

Bring me the Deisel (or both! have them split the MLE!)

Maybe Ray said, "If I'm going to have to start playing with  jerks I might as well make more money with LeBron."

Doc and Danny then said, "Okay, no Shaq!"

It would have been nice to see Ray, Pierce, Garnett and Shaq in a halfcourt offense. Very efficient and highly skilled players. They would be perfect complements to Shaquille.

Unfortunately, Rondo is not.

Who - I really dig your posts because you're clearly a fan of the game and the whole league. It shows in the insights you have on all sorts of things.

100% spot on.  Just ask Steve Nash.  I remeber hearing that the Suns went a diff. direction with Shaq because Nash couldn't play with him.  Same would have happened here.

I think they mean playing style wise. It was pretty clear in the Finals that the C's are at their best when they get stops and run out on the fast break. Shaq gets abused on pick an rolls, so he would hurt our defense and clog up the lane for rondo and PP on offense.

Jermaine Oneal is a much better defender at this point , and can beat most centers up the court on the fast break. Plus he can hit an 18 ft jumper and work the pick and pop with rondo. He is a much better fit than shaq in our system.

After the series we had with heat

I'll pass with the pop with JO

Roll is good

please no pop

Just play like a healthy Perk you'll get your ring delivered
