I didn't want to open a new thread...so just adding this deal here

Quote
Breaking News: Wolves agree to a 4 year, $20 mil deal with Darko Milicic. Link coming shortly ...

wow, Gooden making more than the MLE for 5 years and Darko getting a contract for $5 million a year.

gonna be an interesting summer

That's not a bad deal for Darko.  He's a better player than people give him credit for.  If he were drafted #20 instead of #2, the perception of him would be totally different.  SOMEONE was going to give him a full-MLE contract.

As bad as this deal is, it seems like this is the kind of thing we'll see on a regular basis the next month.

Guys are going to be P-A-I-D.

Whether they deserve it or not.
The great thing if you're an OK NBA player is all it takes is one sucker to get a mega bucks contract.  Gooden just found his and so did Darko.

WOW! Crappy GMs have come out guns a blazing! Darko should not even be in the league. The NBA needs a new CBA just to keep GMs from doing this exact thing. What more does Darko have to do to convince people that he is a horrible basketball player. If I were Darko I would gain 30 pounds and drink beer instead of Gatorade on the sidelines for the next 5 years and guarantee when his contract is up someone else will pay him a ridiculous amount.

Salmons appears to be next for the Bucks. 8 million per according to nba.com. Yikes!

Following the logic of the contracts we've seen so far (just speculating):

Mike Miller could get $9-10M per.
Anthony Morrow could get $4M per.
Brad Miller could get the full MLE.

Anyone still think Paul and Ray will sign for short years and short money?

This is insanity , what are they trying to do? They are surrounding Jennings and Bogut with mediocre talent with awful contracts . They are going to be so tied up cap wise that they will eventually burn out as a 2nd round playoff team much like the hawks. Jennings and Bogut will walk after their contracts are up and they see that there is no chance of being a contender in Milwaukee because they are so caped out with Mediocre talent.

This has always been the Bucks MO. They love mediocrity.

Hmm, I still think Paul's value is: $45/3 and Ray's is $20-24/2.

Centers are historically overpaid. MLE for Brad Miller for 1-2 year wouldn't surprise me. And then, yeah, Mike Miller is probably worth 9 per, but the belief is that He'll go 2 mill below and take a 5 year MLE deal to play for a winner.

The pieces are starting to move.... on bad teams anyway...

Eh, I am not sure you can count the Bucks, Wolves, Hawks, or Grizzlies (they haven't made their dumb signing yet, but you know its coming) when you are trying to guage the market.  Those guys are kind of like a lottery, and you know someone is going to win it...but once they are capped out, then the real market can set itself.

Very bad contract. Milwaukee are ruining their squad's hopes of ever being a true contender.

I'm not convinced these teams are outliers in this market. I think the less desirable players on the market will end up with some bad contracts but anyone with multiple suitors will do extremely well. Hard to believe Ray can't get three years from someone.

Oh, I think Ray will have plenty of suitors, as will Pierce.  My point was that I think the MLE money is going to fizzle out very soon.

I think a lot of teams are going to be saving their MLE, and afraid to give out long term deals.

Yes, the top guys will get their money, but a lot of the lower level guys will not be getting the kind of money that the Bucks and Wolves have been throwing around.
