Matt Bonner, of Concord, NH, about 30 years old, 4-year college player, 1-year Euro player, recently of San Antonio Spurs, excellent 3pt shooter (better than either Scal or Sheed, IMHO), good BBIQ, lots of hustle, rarely out of position defensively, questionable athletic ability, solid character guy, good head on his shoulders (drives a Chevy, uses public transportation), raised a Celtics fan, and a redhead.

Bring Matt Home!!!

I'd be happy enough to have Bonner but he wouldn't be my first choice.

And I would rather Bonner was the sixth big in the depth chart rather than the fifth.

I want what we currently lack on our frontline...and that's a young, long, and extremely athletic player. Don't care if it's a project type that we need to develop for a couple of years (perfect for the 12-13 season), but that's what I would really like.

I would like him, but I would think he would command more than the minimum, and I don't want to use any of the MLE for him.

We're better off keeping Scal + some minimum guy that comes along.

I'd like to see this too, especially if we can draft someone at 19.  Even if they take a project I would take someone like Ekpe Udoh (who I think will fall to around 14-20) or Daniel Orton (who I would be shocked if he isn't around at 19) and give them some tutelage under KG for a year or two.

I have my eye on Orton too. Still only 19 and as a great wingspan. Seen comparison to Speights (taken 16th 2 yrs ago) and I can see that.

Then again Patrick O'Bryant got some tutelage, too. What a joke of a bum of a player.

The fact of the matter is that these project big men rarely ever work out. The big guys that succeed are usually proven in college. Dejuan Blair. Yao was a sure thing. Dwight Howard -- everyone knew unquestionably that he was gonna make an impact. Guys like DeAndre Jordan and Anthony Randolph don't tend to succeed -- I'll be surprised if either of them do.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

EDIT: (somehow my comment was put in the quote box) Udoh is pretty proven, Orton not so much.  I'm not sure but didn't O'Bryant come straight from HS?  And he picked up bad habits early before coming to the Cs for what seemed like only 1/2 a season.

Daniel Orton shouldn't go in the first round, too unproven... It's unfortunate we can't trade up and get a Greg Monroe. He would be fantastic as a post player at the 4 and an athletic big.

Since when has being unproven change someone's draft status?  Ever heard of a little superstar by the name of Darko Milicic?
