Hey guys,

It appears as though Rondo is getting love from all over the league. Check out this article coming from the Bucks Blog. I think its a great take on just how far Rondo has come from the championship team of 08

http://werebucked.com/2010/05/19/who-would-you-take-over-rondo/

So what do you think? Would you rather have Rondo over Wade?

It's about time that Rondo got recognition around the league. I love Rajon but there is no way I would rather have him instead of Wade.

How about Rondo over a healthy Chris Paul? If you all remember back near the draft Ainge was considering trading Pierce for a first rounder which he then wanted to turn around to pick up Chris Paul... Personally id rather have Chris Paul...

It is really nice to keep seeing Rondo's gained exposure. He deserves it and hopefully he'll help make Boston a free agent destination down the road.

However, I think Paul and Williams are still better point guards. Rondo's defense and another stellar post season run, in my opinion, has vaulted him past Steven Nash.

If I were building a team from scratch today, these would be my preferred young players:

1. James
2. Howard
3. Durant
4. Wade
5. D Williams
6. C Paul
7. Bosh
8. Anthony
9. Rondo
10. Rose

Brotha... although I agree with most of this list... Melo before Rondo... come on now, how many SF can do what Melo does compared to what Rondo does at the 1... Plus with Rondos upside, passing ability and defence... I would take Rondo in a heartbeat over Melo... I feel like Melos reached his potential and wont get anywhere till hes got another allstar caliber star next to him (ala Chris Bosh or Wade)...

I agree.  Melo is a very talented player and a phenomenal scorer, but scorers aren't that tough to find in this league.  What Rondo gives you is a lot more difficult to get elsewhere.  Rondo, at this point in his career, is a winner.  Carmelo isn't.

Calling one a winner and one not isn't fair. Rondo has better teammates than Anthony. Yet Anthony's teams still get solid records.

And how many people can score like Anthony? Kobe and Durant. Short range, mid range, long range, slasher, poster. He's got the whole package. Anthony is like a young, taller Paul Pierce.

Ok guys,

So who would you rather bave? A young Paul Pierce or a young Rondo to start your team over? We all know how Pierce busted his butt here in Boston for a long time, but could Rondo have done any better with a rotation of walker, WALTAAAA, Forte...?

1. Durant
2. Wade
3. Deron
4. LeBron
4. Roy
5. Rondo

You all must think I'm crazy but look one by one at the stars I LEFT OUT of this list...how many of them can you seriously imagine hoisting a trophy up (like Dwight Howard...will never touch a trophy)?

You need TEAM SACRIFICE, DEFENSE, and a KILLER INSTINCT along with your ridiculous abilities and youth.

Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, and Melo for example don't have all of these things.

They're similar, but I'm not sure that Anthony will ever be the distributor Pierce is/was. Not to mention that Pierce was actually a more efficient scorer in his first 7 years in the league.

Agreed for sure! Yep, I'm just saying they are similar. Pierce had/has a more versatile game. Anthony was/is bigger.

And if Pierce were 24-27 years old, I'd take him over Rondo too. No question. At his peak I thought Pierce was a top 5 or 6 player in the whole NBA (Vince and Tracy just got more attention because they could jump higher).

You are ignoring so much. And, hello, Wade has already hoisted a trophy!

Pierce, KG and Ray were losers until they were considerably older than most of the people you mention. It was only when they got together that they won.

Rondo, Perk, Baby, Scalabrine -- they all came along for the ride. Does that make them all better inherent 'winners' than Deron Williams or Dwight Howard? Utter nonsense.

Parker has more rings than Chris Paul. So what? So does Gabe Pruitt.

Aren't these points obvious to anyone who has been following basketball over the last decade?

Pierce was always a vastly superior defender - both measurably in the counting stats (blocks, def rebounds, steals) and in the harder to measure +/- type numbers and intangibles.

Carmelo is a better offensive rebounder and turns the ball over less. Similar to Pierce he's been hit with the bad rep. I think Carmelo enjoys more marketing from NBA than Pierce b/c he's on a better team and because he's part of the Lebron, Wade, Bosh draft. (And Darko - snicker.)
