Is not the shot attempts, although it is extremly disturbing that he is taking more shots than KG/PP/Allen on a per-min basis, but the lack of rebounding. What' up with that?  If Perk is not giving you defense and rebounding, then What is he doing?  and it gets worse once you bring his backup - Sheed.

I agree with some of the posts out there,  less Sheed and more Baby and possibly SWilliams should be a good thing.

Anyways, Perk needs to be, what he is, a defensive force and a solid rebounder.  Anything else is gravy - but a distraction - if we keep force feeding.

I wonder if Perk's knee is still bothering him.  And what is Sheed's excuse for not rebounding?  Whoever rebounds should get the playing time. We were getting outhustled big time on the boards until Baby stepped up.  You're not going to win a championship getting outhustled like that! >:(

I have to believe that Perkins is carrying an injury. His level of performance has declined too much and for too long for his game to just be in a rut.

Perk isn't moving as well as he did early this season or late last season. He isn't having as much of an impact defensively and his rebounding is far too inconsistent.

Three months. It's too long. Something has to be wrong.

Honestly, I think Perk just needs more minutes.  When was the last time he played 30 mpg?  He played only 22 minutes last night.  He needs to be given a chance to get into a rhythm on both ends of the floor.

The problem, of course, is that it's the playoffs and we don't really have time to give somebody to get into their rhythm.  I blame Doc for not playing Perk enough during the regular season (except when he was struggling with the injury of course).

Personally I was just happy that Doc went with Baby down the stretch. That was something I'd been looking for him to do a few weeks ago and it paid off. I thought Doc did a great job with his rotations for the simple reason that he recognized who was performing and wasn't afraid to leave them in the game in the 4th (TA and Baby).

I agree, I think Perkins is hurting.

Its probably his knee since that's what they rested him for. He's no longer blocking shots, moving as well on help defense, or getting as much lift. Some games he has it, some games he doesn't.  :(

Agreed-  Have to give Doc a lot of credit for the rotations last night. He actually went with the players who were getting the job done. So nice that instead of Sheed "turning on the switch", Doc "pulled the plug" on Sheed.
And regarding the OP, I really don't understand anyone passing the ball to Perk down low. OK, maybe once or twice per game depending on the matchup. Last night, Ray actually passed up a shot from about ten feet to pass to Perk! The "extra pass" is not always smart. A Perk isolation play is painful to watch, though he has improved over the years.

But that was a Sweeeeeet block on O'Neal in the first.  :D

We were getting pwned on Offensive boards in the game, coach had to change it up.

I like Perk with the ball in the post early in a possession, where he makes his move, and if it's 1 v 1 takes his hook, if he's doubled, kicks out to a shooter/penetrator

I hate when Perk gets the ball with 6 seconds left on the shot clock b/c he only really has one move, and he has to force it...
