Is his injury more serious than reported? If not Doc better play him cause he was playing his best basketball in a while.

I would think if his not playing was due to injury, he would have been inactive instead of Scal.

Honestly, I feel like some people on this board view Tony Allen as their adopted child.  Who cares if it's "fair" or not whether Finley takes his minutes?  This isn't Little League: it's a professional basketball where adult men get paid millions of dollars a year to play a game.  I think I can sleep at night knowing Tony Allen is getting paid 2.5 million a year to sit on the bench.

That said, I'm not saying it's necessarily the right move by Doc to play Finley over Allen; however, I think there are some merits to it.  For better or worse, TA's game is similar to Daniel's in the fact that they both don't shoot well and are both slighter of frame.  Finley offers just the opposite: he can stroke the three and has fairly good size (6-7 225).  I think sometimes people forget that TA is on the smaller size for a shooting guard, let alone small forward (he's only 6-4).

Ultimately, both are vying for what looks to be pretty small minutes come playoff time.  I can't imagine any scenario where Doc plays PP and Ray less than 36 mpg each (and let's face it, he basically does that now, so it's likely to be even more in the playoffs), so we're really only talking about 24 mpg of minutes available at the backup 2 AND 3 spots.  There's really no reason that Daniels can't handle pretty much all of that.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
What bothers me most about Tony is that he seems to be no further along in his understanding of the game than when he first arrived.  He lacks focus and can't be trusted when it matters most.  The Celtics keep believing he'll get there one day, but sadly it hasn't and he's probably as good as he will be...

Tony Allen is better for this team than Marquis is right now. TA is a better defender and he can make things happen on the break. Marquis was only great in the first half because he could post up PG when the other team was stupid. That's now happening now.

I agree. I'd rather have Tony out there over Daniels. Marquis has been a huge let down. I don't care what anyone else says, he just isn't that good.

Tony and Finley is a better option, by far. That's coming from someone who isn't all that fond of TA, too.

Finally some people on the same page. It's kind of funny how we were trying to acquire Quis via sign and trade FOR Tony. We were trying to get him more money and more years. People before the season were saying he was taking a huge pay cut and was going to be looking for a big contract after this season. Does anyone really think that is going to happen now??
