If danny can do Maggette for expirings he should be all over this. They also want to move Beidris(sp?) So we could do Ray + BBD for Maggette + Biedris

EDIT : After thinking about it Maggette wouldn't make much sense unless Daniels was being moved.

Would Scal, Ta, and either Baby or Giddens work for Maggette? I wouldnt trade ray for maggette. PLus I wouldnt trade ray for Maggette and bierdies...He got a 5 year contract, maggettes got 4.

Not saying I necessarily want Maggette, but the TA/Scal/House combo (along with possibly Giddens) presents roughly 10 million dollars worth of expiring salary.  We shouldn't overlook what that can do for us.

I guess I like Maggette more than most do, but I really don't see Corey as a more valuable player than Marquis.  Offensively, Quis is not as prolific a scorer, but he can do more with the ball and defends much better.  I don't think Maggette adds a whole lot to this team. That said -- IF they can get Maggette without losing Ray and then turn Ray over for Miller/Jamison, this team has some serious depth (and some serious salary management problems).

But -- it's still all about KG.

I guess Maggette wouldnt be a great fit after thinking about it. When I see a rumor I just post lol.

Unless it was part of a bigger deal where we lose Daniels, I wouldn't do it.

I would do this "Ferry" type trade -
Ray,House,Scal,Walker and Giddens for
Maggette,Radman,Randolph,Bell and Watson

Ray gets bought out and comes back in late March
We get our expensive yet effective 6th man in Maggette.
We get a true PG with size and defensive ability in Watson.
We get another "wing" in Radman that can shoot or become a trading piece next year on his 6mil contract.
Randolph becomes the 1st big off the bench and gets a chance to learn from the best PF ever(KG of course).
And Bell is an added bonus for us as he can play SG on our bench as well as start when there's injuries(Ray or Pierce)

GS saves a TON of money. They rid themselves of Maggette's contract(even though he has been earning it this year) They also lose Radmanovic's contract. Their only real loss in this is Randolph, whom has been in and out of Nelson's rotations.

If Cleveland is going to trade there stars to get stars and just to get them right back, then this year we should do the same. Because if either team pulls these trades off, then next year it'll be even more highly monitored and the NBA will veto these types of trades(remember a year back when Stackhouse in Dallas had a similar type trade and made comments of coming right back...)

How can anybody look at this roster and say it's not built to win this year and next? All-Star starting lineup, starter quality 2nd unit, AND 5 serviceable backups

I think Maggette would be a very valuable player on this team and think he gets a pretty bad rap here. i'd love to net him for our chump change or for Ray as part of a larger deal...maybe a team that really wants Ellis or Biedrins in which ray goes to GS, Ellis/Biedrins goes to team X, and Maggette plus player from team X comes to Boston.

I'm not sure what team X would be...Washington? Are they high on Ellis? Minnesota? Do they want a young true center to pair with Love? Sac was rumored to be in the hunt for Dalembert; would they want a nucleus of Biedrins, Thompson, and Tyreke?


So, who would say no to each of these?

if maggette could be had for spare expiring parts, that would be a pretty good deal for us (and them, since they want to shed salary). not a huge move, but one that would probably make a pretty big impact for us. i am getting more pessimistic about our chances of making a huge deal - ray simply means more to us than most teams, and unless we get a young stud in return, i don't think we trade him.
