Could not resist bringing up this topic but I had to for old time sake:

If a caveman was the celtics coach he would have won the award, but doc isnt even close to coach of the year.

I watched every game and we should have lost less than 10 games, but ol doc wont let the opposing team force him to make adjustments, plus he makes terrable adjustments.

4 HOF on this team they should be able to win 60 games with no coach.

If we want that elusive ring we need an x's and o's coach.

The BS quote says it all.  Just when I started warming up to Doc, he starts having brain farts.  Actually, more like brain diarrhea.

What's amazing is how Jerry Sloan has never won a COY.  That, to me, baffles my mind.

What quote are you talking about?

a travesty doc finished 2nd as he legitimately might be the worst coach in the league.  He isn't a better coach just because the team has more talent and ended up with a better record.

Byron Scott deserved coach of the year. Byron Scott had half the talent Doc had to work with and still managed to finish 2nd in the west and splitting the season series with the Celtics.

aha...I just re-read the title and now see why the congratulations are short in coming.  I thought it said "Doc wins 2nd Coach of the Year"...The mind sees what the mind wants to see.

Well, congrats on the Silver Medal then Doc.

the rest of this series will teach us what kind of coach doc is...if he gets outcoached by mike woodson he MUST be fired...

It's funny, but in a way I agree. I think Doc should have been coach of the year, but I think if he somehow loses this series (which he wont), he would have to go, to have this much talent and accomplish nothing would be unacceptable.

Doc's had a very strong season and deserved consideration for the award

The coach of the year is always flooded with worthy candidates. Makes it tough for consistently good coaches to stand out.

I guess this is why Coach of the Year is a regular season award, huh?

Rough timing on this announcement, but Congrats to Doc on a fine regular season.

I think this was posted just before game 7 of the Atlanta series in 2008. As I recall, we could not beat Atlanta in Atlanta. Do you think that every team has the book on us to beat us in a game now.\? I sure do.

With the Celtics struggles this year and the fact that Doc Rivers has not driven his team too hard, my point is that this collapse of the Celtics is Doc's responsibility for the lack of discipline and poor habits that makes us a full 12 games worse than where we should be with this team. Five bucks please.

Collapse?!? We're first in our division ... most other teams wish they could have such a "collapse"! What problems this team is experiencing are the CELTICS' responsibility - players AND coaching staff - when they win, it's a team effort, when they lose it's no different. Refund, please. ;)

These topics are pathetic. The Celtics managed to win 60+ games last year with the many injuries they had and then force the Magic to 7 games with a seriously depleted frontcourt.

I'm not a fan of guys who sound like they're already down on coaches when they first are introduced to a team and then pile on them when they're going through a tough stretch.

So let me see if I get this

You think that given the circumstances of this year thus far that it is Doc River's fault that we have our current record and that he personally lost 12 games this team should have won and that this team SHOULD CURRENTLY BE 44-6??

So are you saying the fact that from their top 9 man rotation(Rondo, Pierce, Allen, Perkins, Garnett, Wallace, Davis, Daniels, House)the Celtics have lost 81 player games to injury is Doc's fault

Because that and the fact that many more player games have been deteriorated by players trying to play through injury or recovering from injury is probably the real reason this team isn't 44-6, not Doc Rivers

Doc has his warts and Lord knows this year hasn't been one of his better years but the Celtics current record can not be blamed on Doc Rivers

He is probably way down the list of reasons for this team's struggles thus far this year

Of course you can't fire 14 players so we will see if this continues if Danny's faith in Doc lasts as it did in 2006-07

Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D

Scott Brooks should and will be coach of the year.  His team has already won 7 more games than last season and he has helped turn the Thunder into a legit playoff team.
do it
