As of now the Celtics have one roster spot open, which means whether a trade occurs or not we should have a new player on our team.

What are people's thoughts on position and skill set needs? Keep in mind that buyout players will probably be role players off the bench. Does anyone have specific players that they would like to target that have the possibility of being bought out?

A wide bodied rebounder that can block shots and a point guard are what I see as the teams needs. Of course if we trade for Nate we won't need the back up point.

Please feel free to use this thread to mention players that are being bought out or rumored to be bought out. I believe the only player rumored to be bought out so far is Drew Gooden.

The Nets have 3 that pop up - the corpses of Tony Battie, Bobby Simmons or Jarvis Hayes are all buyout candidates ...

(1) A secondary wing off the bench -- preferably someone with size, shooting ability and solid rebounding -- Bobby Simmons would be an excellent fit.

(2) A guard who is an upgrade over Eddie House -- very unlikely
(3) A big man who can crack the C's rotation -- also, very unlikely

(4) A big man who is an upgrade over Shelden Williams -- somewhat unlikely
(5) A third string point guard to backup Eddie House -- somewhat unnecessary because of Marquis Daniels but possible to acquire

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Don't we have two open spots? Hudson's spot and now JR/Bill's?

I still think we need to go after and sign Sean Williams, who played for New Jersey.

We dont have a single big, who can catch an alley-oop! or finish above the rim at all.
(Perkins, takes way too long to gather himself, and by the time he's gathered himself, the defense has recovered, and can meet him at the rim. happens all the time)

A Young athletic energetic shot-blocker, can be signed for cheap!

We need athleticism, we need someone who is agile, and jump high enough to grab some rebounds.

I dont want him to build the future around him, I just want him b/c he posesses everything we need from our backcourt right now. We need a big, that makes the wings who blow by Ray and Paul, have 2nd thought about driving to the rack......KG doesn't scare anyone anymore.

*side note: I cant believe Scalabrine is still on this roster, past the deadline, that just boggles my mind.
