I know getting Ellis is an unlikely scenario. But I am going to say it now: I would love to land Monta in a trade. I love this guy's game. I love the intensity, the passion, and the fire. Plus, Rondo and Ellis would be the most exciting back court--ever.
Yeah, it's high risk and a high reward move. Chemistry would be a gamble. But at this point I am willing to take that risk. We need a guy who can score points. Ellis would change the dynamic on this team; possibly for the good and possible for the bad.
In the fourth quarter against the Lakers, when we were walking the ball up the court, Ellis would have been the man flying up and down for layups. I'll admit: he's not the greatest shooter. But he can hit the mid range shot, and he can be pretty streaky.
If you asked me about adding Ellis three months ago (heck, even two weeks ago), I would have told you, "Are you crazy!" "Why would I want little Iverson Jr. on this team?" But now I think we could use a player like Monta, even at the expense of Ray Ray.
I suppose it's just a pipe dream. But Ellis is the player I most want. He's the type of guy who could inject some life into this sun dried team. His intensity for the game is matched by few playing today, and he has all the tools to be a solid defensive player (against point guards and small two guards). So put me on board for Ellis.
