Trading with the Knicks

Jeffries + Chandler + Nate for TA + Scal + Giddens and our 2010 first sounds reasonable and fair to me.  Actually somewhat realistic if Celtics ownership is willing to pay Jeffries.

New York has repeatedly said they won't be trading Gallinari to shed either Jeffries or Curry.

New York would literally give away their entire roster if they thought they could sign LeBron and Bosh. Let's not pretend like Gallinari is untouchable just because they won't throw him under the bus at a press conference. They don't *want* to trade him, but he's on the first train out of town if it nets them LeBron.

Certainly, they'd trade him for LeBron. That's not the point though: they won't trade him for additional cap space that may or may not allow them to sign another max. free-agent (they already have room to sign one, anyway).

Indeed.  Remember, the Knicks have to have at least one or two decent players in place to entice these max free agents to sign there.  Even LeBron might think twice about signing for 5 years with a team that has no talent besides him.  LeBron is really good, but not good enough to make the playoffs with vet. min players (or players who should be making the vet. min) all around him.
