I have to agree with IP ... great discussion and discourse is made up of many things, and while some of those discussions may be emotional and heated at times, mocking someone should not be on the list of acceptable tools for proper discourse or dialogue.
That said, I have to completely disagree with Brick's statements, and say that Ray, Paul and the other "old" guys, are FAR from done or through being "front-line" players. They are the core and strongest parts of this team, and will be for a while to come.
Not sure what games are being discussed here, but to say that it's being looked at from a 'half-empty" perspective would be the understatement of the year! This is one of the best teams in the NBA, if not THE best, and to say that the core players are done and that all we have left for hope is to start rebuilding, just makes no sense at all.
If anyone needs proof, just look at the record, look at the stats, look at how evenly the scoring is distributed, look at how well we play defense, look at the connection and chemistry this team has, look at how well they communicate and how unselfish they are with the ball ... to even
consider taking statements like Brick's seriously, would take a
huge amount of proof and statistics to the contrary of what's really taking place.
I just don't get how anyone could come to such a conclusion, but for now I'll give Brick the benefit of the doubt, and just ask for an explanation of how he could watch this team play and make such a negative assumption ... of how a team that's twenty-and-four does "not have what it takes" ... of how two of the league's elite players careers are "over".
I have seen a lot of negative critiquing of this team on here before, but none that is just so completely opposite of what the reality appears to be. I'll admit that the Big Three are older and nearing the point in their careers where they will start winding down. But to say three of the NBA's current best players are through, along with their team, (which is ranked at the top of the NBA), is not remotely realistic.
Sorry, but one and one just does
not make two here, so please help us with our math ... we're all missing something.
By the way, remember that guy for the Celtics tonight who came off a late pick and had the ball passed to him and rotated to the top of the circle and launched a last-second three that he drained to put the gamne away tonight against the Grizzlies? Somebody needs to tell him, (and the rest of the NBA teams and fans who fear this Celtics club), that his career is
OVER.
