Not sure who to give the credit to, Doc Rivers or Rasheed Wallace, or a collaboration of both.  But I am absolutely loving the fact that Sheed has been puttin in more work in the low post.  It seems that ever since we started this 8 game road trip, Sheed has been diversifying his game alot more, and to no suprise we have been playing much better basketball.

There are definetely other factors to us playing better; Garnett's 73% shooting streak, Rondo's leadership and aggressiveness, Perkins offensive consistency and anchoring defense, but Sheed's low post play has put the biggest smile upon my face. It gets him to the free throw line more and in better position to get offense rebounds which he converts at a very  high percentage, because of his high release and soft touch. This gives the 2nd unit a whole new look, as they now have a reliale place to go down low for 2 points instead of relying on long jump shots.

I also would like to Sheed get more minutes when he has it rolling. I know he is 10-15bs overweight, but he can handle an occasional 30-35 min night.  Doc seems so set on his rotation and playing Sheed about 20-24 mins, but if he is playing better than KG or Perkins that night, let him play and let him get in a good rhythm. I also think he is our best big at getting steals. He always seems to come up with a couple good strips a game in very limited minutes.

I hope Sheed contnues his good work in the post and actually gets in there even more.  Ideally I would like to see him shoot 65-70% of his shots in the post and 30-35% from three point land. Is that to much to ask?

Yeah, that's not going to happen.

We ought to be happy if it's the other way around.

Looks like his sever shooting slump made him realize he is 7 feet tall again and can shoot over anyone down there even if he is out of shape.

I know that it was reported that Doc said something to him about getting on the block more, but who knows if it was this or the poor shooting that convinced him.  Regardless, we are all glad he is doing more work down low.

As for me, I don't mind him shooting a 3 if it comes within the offense and he's open.  I just don't like the contested 3's when there are still other better options we can get to later in the shot clock.

It's a beautiful to see. It makes a good difference to the Celtics court balance + offensive balance.

Hopefully, it'll last ... I'm doubtful though.

DOc has mentioned this as an area of focus before. I think it very well may last. Whatever Rasheed is, he's a pretty smart basketball player. And seeing the balance on offense, their winning streak, and I'm sure having Doc point this out will keep it going. The guy wants to win a championship, so I think he will recognize this helps the team and do it.

Yup, he's [dang] good down there.

It's funny, I'm no psychologist but I swear a few of the 3's he was taking last night were because he felt like he'd earned the right to take them after busting his butt on the low post.  I'm all right giving the dog the bone in that case.  If it keeps him happy taking a few 3's after being effective in the low post, then it's a small price to pay (and hell, he might even make a few  ;) )
Yup

I don't care what he is doing on the court. I just love watching his mannerisms. Watching him bobbin and gettin down to the arena music during timeouts is hilarious.

It seems like he's all day down there, is he just too lazy to exert effort in the Post??

I think its essential that Sheed plays the post more when he's running with that current second unit (House, Tony, Pierce, Sheldon).   I'm not a huge fan of that unit especially when Sheed is floating around the perimeter.  When he is down playing his back to his basket, he is a huge asset down there.  As we say last night, his fadeaway is nearly unstoppable and he can take control against the low block defenders.    This particular unit needs a scoring punch and it seems to be a lot more effective when Sheed is playing down low.

When Sheed is running out there with the starters, its not as critical to play the post but I think its huge when he's out there with a substitute heavy unit, especially given our current personal.

Funny indeed, because I felt the exact same way! Like Sheed was saying "OK now that I've scored in the post on multiple possessions I've earned the right to launch consecutive threes because I'm enjoying it". He truly did since whenever he got the ball from beyond he shot, no matter if the shot was contested. Not the better choice but you're not going to change Sheed... and it was so great to see him play in the post (he is unstoppable at times out there) that you couldn't really complain.

I like to see Sheed play more in the post. It will be huge in the playoffs. And right now he has understood that, with Marquis out, he is the only guy off the bench who can really create his own shot and score easy buckets. Keep it up Shed!
