Was at the game tonight and didn't see him on the bench or with the team at all. Sorry if I have missed anything in Celtic news and notes lately.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
He has the flu and the team sent him back to Boston so as not to effect the rest of the team.

It is interesting that Sweetney is still with the team. I wonder if the team is actually considering him.

I hope so.
High basketball IQ and could contribute in really few minutes.
I'd really like to see him get a shot.

The regular season doesn't start for a week. Let's see if he's still on the roster on...Sunday?

In Sweetney's defense though, what happened to Shelden Williams? He didn't play either.

i think it's a sign of many DNPs to come for Shelden, unless someone gets hurt.

Maybe Sweetney will lose 10 or 15 pounds while down with the flu...

The thing is, it looks like he could play in the NBA. But the guy is at least 60 lbs overwieght, if not more. Maybe the first few months of the season can be spent on the treadmill.

He could have spent the last 5 years on that treadmill.  The first few months of this season aren't unique.

Williams is probably the 10th or 11th man on the roster.  Might even be the sixth big man, since whenever I've seen Scal he's looked rotation-worthy.  Landlord'll probably only play any decent minutes in the case of injury, foul trouble, or in blowouts.  So far, he's looked kinda "meh" to me, a bit more athletic than I might have supposed but maybe - maybe clumsy is the right word on offense?

But, plenty good for a fifth/sixth big man, and certainly fine for a vet-minimum contract.  I tend to think that if everyone forgot that he was a #5 overall pick, they'd judge him more on what he IS (an OK big man) instead of what the Hawks thought he might become.

Saw somewhere in the Globe or the Herald that Sweetney was sent home with symptoms of the flu.

Right now its between sweetney , walker and giddens being cut. I think it is the end of the line for giddens or walker. Sweetney could be a real nice backup pf to have as the season rolls along conditioning himself at the nbdl level.
