he just didn't play well. sam cassell brought more to the table in his time here. and thats not saying much.

for a guy who was a big fan at one point, and who was intruiged at what his skills could do in green (what skills, i didnt see any), he was about as big a disappointment as a guy who used to be very good/great but practically hadnt played in a year could be

later marbs, get a view on what your worth is or youll be outta the NBA

Well, I think he deserves some slack since he hadn't played in a year.  Plus he was trying too hard not to appear selfish.  I think Marbury would be great with a full training camp.

This is great news as far as I'm concerned. Marbury just didn't perform. He didn't contribute. I'll never understand why there were some people who wanted him back. If I owned the C's, Marbury couldn't pay me to play here. The guy just doesn't have it anymore. It happens to even the best players. It's nothing to be ashamed about.

I mean, how many times did Steph get the ball stolen from him in the open court? Five or six times? Maybe even more? That's completely unacceptable, especially since he had enough time to get his feet under him.

I too thought Marbury would shake the rust off. But, as the season wore on, I realized he wasn't rusty at all; his game was what it was. And we should all feel a little silly if any of us thought Marbury was going to be a factor. After all, when was the last time this guy played a productive season? Three years ago? That's not a "rusty game", that's a game that has rotted through.

Well praise the f'n lord! Hallelujah!!

Marbury is gone and with him that FUGLY sight of seeing #8 on his jersey.   Thank you, KG for getting hurt and thus, indirectly, preventing the C's from going all the way again this year....Marbury winning a title with Walker's number would've been the ultimate slap in the face to Toine, the Gambling King.   :P

Hopefully, the next time the C's give that #8 to someone, it will be a player who busts his azz night-in and night-out on the court...

Look, to be fair, I don't think it had anything to do with him not "busting his ass."  I think his effort was great.  I think his problems were not playing for a year, not being able to get his jumper going, and deferring improperly to teammates because he was afraid of his jumper not falling.

I know a lot of people here were not a fan of him, and I understand that.  I'm not some unabashed Stephon fan in the slightest, but if we're gonna criticize him, lets at least be honest in our judgement of him.  It had nothing, nothing to do with his effort.  And if you wanna get on him for his contracts expectations or him being greedy, go right ahead.  Just be fair, that's all i'm saying.

  • There can only be one.
^ Thank you.

And you guys got what you wanted. Happy? Now we have to rely on Gabe Pruitt/House for back-up, and House just isn't that good playing the point. Here's to signing Watson or Lue.

Well I'm not making any bones about it.  I dislike Marbury more for what type of PERSON he is, let alone him not having the talent anymore.

Walker's legal troubles(gambling debts) aside, he and Marbury are NIGHT AND DAY as far as Individuals off the court.

I don't care who gets the #8 now. Just as long as it's not Marbury..

I couldn't have said it better myself. If someone will explain to me how to give a Tommy Point, I'll give you several.

Well, I'm not demanding Marbury's return, but those that want him aren't insane to expect better contributions from him.  Look at his %s with the Cs: 34% from the field, 24% from downtown, 46% from the line.  His career averages in those categories are 43%, 33% and 78%, and his most recent action (beginning of 07-08) had him at 42%, 38% and 72%.  Now, his game could have disappeared entirely, but it's more reasonable to explain such immense drops in percentages as the effects of severe rust, especially when the rest of his game was fairly intact (he rebounded and assisted at rates comparable to the rest of his career).

Still relatively young (32) and healthy, with a full training camp, I'd imagine he could approach his career averages again.  If so, he wouldn't be a bad option off the bench.  7 pts and 3 assists in 16 mpg on 42% (34% from 3) shooting would be my guess as to his production.  Certainly more than I'd expect from Ty Lue or Gabe Pruitt.
