Yeah, I think I'd do this deal. Maxiell's under control for a couple of seasons and I think Detroit's pick this year is gonna be pretty good. It'd likely be lottery-protected, but you've got a good shot at something in the 15-18 range.

I think Maxiel is a better compliment to Sheed and adds a rebounding and defensive presence to the second unit. He is also a tough guy and can guard in the post and block shots.

So, yeah, I wish that deal had gotten done.

Maxiel isn't even as good as BBD and he doesn't know the Celtics system.  There's not much a surprise that the C's turned down that offer.
